Accounts cancellations department does not exist

hi there

I had a 2yr contract with Telkom Mobile for a 10gb data service, which was paid monthly at a cost of R199. The service came to an end recently, and they contacted me telephonically to try and renew it.
I then indicated I am going to cancel it since I don't need the service anymore. I called the 081-180 service, just to find out the call centre agent refuses to transfer me to a cancellations department, and they don't accept telephonic cancellations. (for interest sake: Vodacom does accept telephonic cancellations if the customer was authenticated).
I then filled a form for cancelling the service, and emailed it to their email address as advertised on the form, but you don't receive a confirmation that the request has been received and will be attended to.
I then took the forms to a Telkom store in Tygervalley Mall to have it cancelled there, only to be told they only do sales and not cancellations.

I don't want to be held hostage by Telkom Mobile as a customer. If I want to cancel a service at the end of a contract, it should just be as easy and subscribing for one.

I think this is ********* and downright ******** and entirely unacceptable...
