ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE - AND NOW YOU SUSPEND MY ACCOUNT !!

A/C No ********** 70103

I was planning to be away from home from 30 March 2016 to 13 July 2016.

I therefore wished to reduce costs by not paying for services which would not be required at home while I was away. These services were the “DSL Fast” and “Home uncap basic”.

I completed a “Consumer Request for Contract and Service Cancellation” form, and submitted it together with an explanatory note, a copy of my ID and a copy of my most recent Telephone Account. This was submitted by e-mail on 14 March 2016 to the address specified on the Telkom website, viz. **********
I received by e-mail on 16 March 2016 an acknowledgement from Telkom that my
e-mail of 14 March 2016 had been received.

For info, the submitted explanatory note was as follows :

“
TO : TELKOM
DATE : 14 March 2016
SUBJECT : Temporary Suspension/Cancellation of Services :
A/C No ********** 70103 : Number 042*********X
MESSAGE :
Attached is a completed “Consumer Request for Contract and Service Cancellation”.

Also attached is a copy of my latest Invoice and a copy of my ID.

Please temporarily suspend my ADSL and Internet service from 30 March 2016 until 13 July 2016.

Do NOT disconnect the normal Telephone Line.

PLEASE NOTE : If it is not possible to ‘temporarily suspend’ these services, then please proceed and CANCEL them. I will maybe re-instate them when required again.
“

While I was away, I continued to receive by e-mail the monthly Telephone Accounts with ALL the charges.

As this was incorrect, I sent reminders by e-mail to Telkom on 16 March, 10 May and 7 June 2016. Acknowledgement of Receipt by Telkom of these reminders was received in each case, but no action was forthcoming.

Also while I was away, I paid a monthly amount of R360, which is slightly more than what would have been due had Telkom implemented the changes I requested.

I continue to receive by e-mail my Telephone Accounts with ALL charges - I only pay every month what is due, not the diputed amout.

Many, many attempts made to sort out problem by e-mails and telephone Helpline calls and Favebook postings - NO PROGRESS - apart from the usual promises of "I will phone you back" - which of course NEVER happens.

NOW, to cap it all, my services have been suspended due to 'non-payment' - fantastic customer service !!!!

I look forward to this problem making progress and achieving a resolution - it has been ongoing for 6 months !

And in the meantime, what about my suspended services ?

Had a good discussion of my problems when I was telephoned by someone from Telkom, and the problems appeared to be sorted out.

I have just received my October statement (dated 6 Nov 2016).

Fantastic - I have been given the full credit requested for the time I was away from home.

BUT - now 3 extra charges have appeared on this latest statement : a two times RECONNECTION FEE of a total of R428.94, and a LATE PAYMENT ( ! ! ) FEE of R14.20.

These are obviously incorrect , as the line was never disconnected, and the payments were never late - as tacitly agreed by Telkom when they gave me the credits I requested.

Please can these errors be corrected.

Thank you.
