ABSOLUTE REFUSAL TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT ONGOING PREMIUM DEDUCTIONS ON CANCELLED INSURANCE POLICY!
When I took out a contract on my new Samsung Galaxy S7 edge in June 2017, I felt that insurance cover on the device was warranted. The Telkom mobile agent arranged a policy for my phone with FINRIGHT who proceeded to deduct a R194/month premium.
I soon learnt that much more affordable insurance cover was available and decided to cancel the policy on 19th August 2017. I phoned Finright and instructed them to cancel the policy. I was told that a month's notice was required and cancellation would only take place after that. I felt that this was pretty unfair but had to accept it. I therefore expected one more premium deduction (on 15th September), but was most annoyed when another one followed after that (on 15th October). I phoned Finright and told them that I had already cancelled the policy, but obviously they did absolutely nothing about it - another deduction of R194 followed on the 15th November! I then phoned Telkom Mobile who told me it was not their problem and I must phone Finright... never mind the fact that it is Telkom Mobile that are still billing me for the R194 every month! I have written UMPTEEN emails to Telkom Business Mobile - and each time receive an automated reply that the matter is being attended to - what a joke! Absolutely nothing has been done, despite a few replies and promises to investigate the matter. My advice to anyone wanting to take out insurance with Telkom Mobile or Finright is - DON'T! Stay well clear of these two companies!!
I might just add, that on the 9th of August 2017 I received the following email from Telkom. It was on the strength of this that I cancelled my policy on the 19th August 2017:
"Good Day Trust All is well Welcome to Telkom Cellular Insurance Attached please find your Insurance Policy schedule “• To guarantee peace of mind, we have given you 30 days from the date of commencement to review your policy to ensure it meets yours expectations. • If for any reason you are not entirely satisfied, please feel free to call Telkom Insurance on ********** 674, during this 30-day period, and we will arrange for cancellation and confirm this to you in writing. • All premiums paid during this period will be refunded to you subject to the deduction of the cost of any cover actually enjoyed by you.”
Needless to say, this email was devoid of any truth whatsoever!!!
