About to take legal action

Good evening to you

So, I have a 10 meg ADSL line. My husband and I teach English online and is our only income. Because of Telkom's poor service delivery, we have not been able to work and are now in a situation where we might loose our house. I pay approximately R1200 for my ADSL line, I saw that Telkom had an LTE special for uncapped LTE for R799 My friend has this and the speeds are much faster, he is also a teacher and has great internet so I app**** for this. I was turned down because apparently Telkom doesn't want me making more debt, the word used was affordability. I mean come on, it would have saved me R400, you can't tell me that there is any sense in this reason. If I am paying R1200, and could in fact be paying R799. it would have saved me so much. First, nobody had the common decency to call and tell me the outcome, I had to go to the store to find out because I couldn't get hold of anyone over the telephone and nobody on the 10210 could tell me what was going on. Once I got my answer, I posted on Telkom's facebook page as I wanted a proper reason. This was an ongoing thing, Telkom would message me week after week for months about how they are looking into the matter and eventually they just started ignoring me. This is unacceptable!!! Telkom just wants to ***** the money I work so hard for, just because you guys are a monopoly doesn't mean that you can treat your customers just how you want.

So, after all this transpired, I decided to upgrade to a 20 meg line. I phoned and the operator checked the availability of vdsl and said all is good. I got that VERY quickly, no problem with me paying R500 more but you have a problem with me paying R799. Eventually I get the 20 meg line, however after many calls and emails to the technical department, and a technician coming out, it was told that we are too far from the exchange and cannot have a 20 meg line. All the time, I am being charged for a 20 meg line. I phoned to cancel this 20 meg line because I refuse to pay for a service that I am not getting and I get told that I have to pay a penalty fee for cancelling my contract. I refused, I will not pay a cent. I was told, and you can go and listen to the recorded conversation, I was told that I can in fact have a 20 meg line where I am and clearly I cannot so I am not paying. I cancelled, and a few days after I phoned the billing department, they told me that I am on a 10 meg line and on the system it says that all I am required to pay is the normal 10 meg line fee and my showmax account. I got the bill attached today for a ridiculous amount of over R3300. I have highlighted where I have been charged twice for my phone weekender plan, I have been charged double for my 10 meg line AND a 20 meg line. This is unacceptable and I am now going to take legal action against Telkom, all because of Telkom we have lost 4 months of income. Do you realise what that means? I have 2 children! This is absolutely ridiculous and I will not stand for this any longer. Telkom better make a plan or I am going straight to my lawyer tomorrow and Telkom will have to answer to the court. I will not tolerate this poor service, I will not tolerate my money being ******. Make a plan Telkom, you have no right to treat your customers this way. I am tired of having to beg for service. If my internet is cut because of this then there will be even more hell to pay. I have spoken nicely and nothing gets done, maybe you guys will listen to my lawyer.

Thank you and goodbye

Thank you. I hope that this can be resolved. I called Telkom billing and they were of no use. Because of Telkom, we are living on one income, now they want me to pay R3377 which I don't have and I am told if I do not pay this amount then my internet will be cut. If that happens, then there will be NO income and my children will starve. I cannot afford this large amount, even if it is credited to me the next month it makes no difference, either way I loose. I do not want to take the legal route but I am at my witts end. I have all messages on Facebook where they promise to help me and now they just ignore me. I have called the line and used the chat. The chat they just disconnect your conversation. THe line they just make excuses. Telkom needs to take responsibility for their actions, admit that a mistake was made on their side and make right on it. That is all I am asking. I have contacted my lawyer and I do indeed have grounds to take Telkom to task, mainly due to loss of income. So if Telkom wants to prevent being taken to court, they must hurry up and sort this problem out. THank you again.

I received a call last week and I haven't heard anything since. I have sent 2 emails and not 1 person has the common decency to reply to me. It is almost time to pay my bill and I cannot pay this ridiculous amount. I never received the service so why must I pay for it? It was Telkoms fault, their mistake for allowing me to believe I was in fact able to have a 20 meg line so why should I be charged? Why should I have to pay for a service that I never received. As I said, we have been surviving on 1 salary because of Telkom, we have lost R20 000 because of Telkom's inability to provide us with the service they promised us. So we loose income and we have to pay someone else's salary. This is not fair. As I have said, I have been in contact with my lawyer and he says that I have grounds to take Telkom , because of our loss of income. I do not want it to get to that point, so can someone please contact me and let me know what is happening as soon as possible or I will have no choice. I am tired of being ignored, it is unacceptable! If my internet gets cut because of this, and I loose my income as well, then there is going to be hell to pay. Geez, you are a telecoms company, yet communication is so hard.
