A week to move a pole 5 feet?!

On Thursday, 30 March 2017, a truck, while driving down our street, ripped our overhead phone lines to pieces. I logged a call on Telkom's online fault report app minutes after that.

Two days later, a technician by the Lester showed up. He came to the conclusion that the pole to which the phone lines are connected, should be moved. Only the contractors can do that, for legal reasons, he said. No problem.

One week and some phone calls to the only helpful person (Lester) on Telkom soil later, he is still waiting for the contractors from White River or Nelspruit or wherever. Really? Are they still growing it?

We have four businesses relying on a single line for internet, which is unavailable because we do not have a telephone line because there is no pole because somebody somewhere is not doing what they are paid to do. Their work.

Fix it, please. And give Lester a proper raise, not a promotion, otherwise we do not have anybody on the ground that actually bends over backwards to do his job and probably somebody else's too.

A call to Telkom at 16H45 today, 2017-04-07, Friday, revealed that they do not have any contact with the cabling department, or their contractors, for that matter. They cannot tell me anything about the status of the fault that was reported apart from the fact that they handed it over to cabling.

Really? Shouldn't there be communication between the companies involved?

Tuesday morning 08H30. Everything running smoothly again. Thank you Lester. Again. Telkom should clone you.
