A not so fairytale

I sit here in a state of utter disbelief. My tale of woe is a long one, Telkom is my nemisis and i didn't even realise I was a superhero. THis is a TRUE story as UNBELIEVABLE as it sounds. Let me start at the beginning: once upon a time when Telkom first introduced their prepaid landline system ( in the early 2000s), I in my naiviety bought a prepaid phone. The phone has moved with me to 3 houses and still works perfectly however, Telkom doesn't. I still have the corded luminous pink handset!

I have NO service on the line though again! This is a recurrent problem and seems to be a game Telkom plays with me. I had this problem in the past and telkom solved the problem but it seems our bliss was not to last. In April my phone line went dead. I reported it, which is not easy or cost effective as you need a landline for the call to be free. It was fixed in MAY and literally went off again less than 24hours later. The technician phoned from the box at around 14:00 and said oh yes your line was just disconnected. Then the next morning around 10:00 another technician was working at the box and on the lines and lo and behold my line was dead!!!!!!!

I logged the problem again. Telkom was told clearly that NO ONE is home till 16:00 and that they can just send a guy to the box ---=- the problem is NOT in my house.

Then the best part was that i got an sms asking me to rate MARK's service as he has resolved my problem!!!! I have no words left, i have no time, I have no energy and I have no desire to try to even explain to TELKOM how they frustrate me.

What this time has taught me is that I really can survive without a landline and i have upgraded with Vodacom and from 1 july will be receiving 200 minutes a month from them and therefore will have plenty airtime and truly no need for telkom.

For all i know Telkom could have by now disconnected me, since surely i can not have to pay rental for what I am not receiving. I would n't know because if they phoned to ask me why i haven't paid .... ha ha ha my phone doesn't ring!

I for all the trouble i have had with Telkoms lack of service for the last 3 years have resolutely decided against home internet! I would never be able to connect! I will wait for fibre and go with Afrihost or some such provider. And i will let Neotel be my line provider.

I really have run out of words..... i have not reported the fault again because it has not be fixed. I am tired of reference numbers and esculations.... nothing changes ultimately. Honestly, i really have been with Telkom since 2000 and really use those original phones but i am very unhappy with the service. It is also of no use to me to be told the lines are rotten..... fix them - you have had 3 years!

So disillusioned. About to end my contract with TELKOM forever.
