7-10 working days escalate to over 2 months

I live in an area where there is no fibre and the only good reception is Telkom, which I didn't think is a bad thing. How very wrong I was...

I placed an order for an ADSL line with Telkom by calling. I was told that I will receive feedback within 7-10 working days. On 19 April I spoke to Lusando who followed up and promised feedback within 7-10 days. By 4 May, when I still had not received as much as a peep from Telkom, I spoke to Aubrey who gave me a reference number of 766326. He promised that my call was escalated, which means it should receive urgent attention. On 13 May I spoke to Lihle, who made a 2nd escalation. On 26 May I spoke to Michaela to speak to a manager - a call was logged to advise I will be contacted with 24-48 hrs. When I called again on 31 May, I was told that the order was approved. I was promised that things will be moving now, for sure! On 9 June, I spoke to Simphiwe who emailed a manager to call me back within 24-48 hrs. 17 June, Themba promised me that another call for a manager call back was logged.

How did 7-10 working days become more than 2 months??????????? How many emails does it take to get a manager to notice potential business going down the drain? This has been the worst of the worst customer service experience in my 42 years.
