11 DAYS no internet

Update: Telkom has managed to fix the landline, however we still have no ADSL....this is DAY 11 of no internet at our offices! This is geting beyong urgent, our business relies on internet connect!

Telkom are you going to give us a 33% discount off our bill?

*************************************************

Telkom subcontractors hit the telephone line in Victoria Street, Oaklands, Johannesburg on Thursday 6th October 2016. When we called to complain the call centre was "no, there is no one working in your area the issue is not with Telkom". Only after Afrihost (our internet provider) registered a fault (after we called our IT company to check the line) did we get a reference number (105BRK061016). The call centre sent a technician out on Friday (7th Oct) who diagnosed the problem (after being to 3 or 4 houses on the same box), and then reported it to the Cable Department.

On Tuesday (11 Oct) was the first day we saw anyone actually working on the fault, with the technician indicating he was hoping to have the problem sorted by that evening (even though the same subcontractors who hit the line - in more than one place - where continuing working in the area). On wednesday morning (12th October) there was still no activity on the line, and not one soul to be seen at the local exchange or where the damaged lines are, even though your call centre is adamant that "the technicians were working on it".

We are now sitting a week with no internet, and have resorted to running the business off 3G modem, and exorbitant data bundles, and still the call centre has no timeline as to when this problem will be sorted. I have complain on twitter (no response) and facebook (where I have been messaging and been told "Hi we apologize for the inconvenience caued. We will make sure your query is attended to & feedback will follow.^TM3). This message was received on Wednesday at noon, and still no "feedback".

I will now resort to posting this complaint on Facebook, Twitter and Hello Peter every hour until we have firm time line to lines being fixed (or the lines are repaired), or Telkom supplies us with temporary internet services.

Update: The latest platitude I have received is "Thank you for making contact with us. There are currently delays in the area due to workload. The fault has been escalated for urgency and we're awaiting further feedback." This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. How can you now lay the blame on the workload! The issue was being addressed by your technicians on Tuesday ****h October) but then they weren't on site on other days! This is not due to workload, this is due to bad management by Telkom. You do not remove techinicians from site/issue until the issue is fixed. It seems to me that Telkom only assigns maximum 5 hours to each issue, if the issue isn't address they move to the next issue and will come back to the issue when they have free time! We have now resorted to buying a Telkom 3G (as they are only sim with automatic Unrestricted APN) and now Telkom sim is intermittent due to bad signal!

Wow Keagan, you by far are the most on the ball Telkom Social media person have heard from! Pity it took 11 DAYS to hear from a competent person. The reason you see no fault, is that finally after 11 days telkom managed to fix a fault that should have taken 2 days at MOST! Another reason is because you seem to listen to ISP more than customers! Afrihost managed to send a telkom technician yesterday lunch time! Again the fault was outside the property! Shocking service all round from Telkom.
