I am writing this review to warn other consumers about my shocking experience with Strictly VW East London. My Volkswagen Tiguan was misfiring, so I took it to them. What followed was a nightmare of overcharging, threats, rudeness, and *****. 1. Held Hostage & Refused a Refund: They charged me R850 for a diagnostic. Their quote to my warranty company was THREE TIMES the normal rate (both labour and parts). When I refused the overpriced repair, they would NOT refund my R850 and THREATENED to charge me storage fees if I didn't fetch my car immediately. I asked for the refund after taking the car back to them to carry out the repairs as per the diagnostics they performed, they refused to refund. 2. Rude and Unprofessional Management: When I went to collect my car, the lady who says she's the manager, Charmaine, was incredibly rude. Her first words were, "What do you want?" – even though SHE had called me to come fetch the car that same day. Completely unacceptable. 3. THE WORST PART: *****ULENT CHARGE FOR WORK NEVER DONE: The main reason my car was there was to replace a faulty coil pack. My warranty was billed R6200 for this "repair". However, when I took my car to a different mechanic to fit new spark plugs, he showed me the old, original coil pack still in the engine! It was never replaced. The engine light was still on when I collected my car, which proves they did nothing. Summary: Refused to refund my R850 diagnostic fee. Threatened me with storage fees. Extremely rude manager. CHARGED R6200 FOR A REPAIR THEY NEVER PERFORMED. THIS IS *****. I demand a full refund of the R850 diagnostic fee and the immediate reversal of the *****ulent R6200 charge. I also expect a public apology. Avoid this dealership at all costs. They will overcharge you, treat you with contempt, and possibly charge you for work they never do.

On the 4th of September 2025, I took my car to Strictly VW in East London for a diagnosis as it was showing an error. They informed me that the ABS pump needed to be replaced, and they would also check the wheel speed sensors since I had them replaced recently. They told me the old sensors should have just been cleaned instead of replaced, as they were still in good condition as I showed them. The price for the pump was very high, so they gave me two options: either replace the seals on the ABS pump or replace the pump entirely. I chose to have the seals replaced and left my car there. They told me the work would take the whole day. I expected a call on Friday or Monday morning confirming that my car was ready. However, on Monday morning, after not hearing from them, I phoned to follow up. I was told they were still busy with the car and didn’t manage to work on it on Friday. Later that afternoon, they called to say the car was ready for collection, but they were unable to clear the error and that the pump still needed to be replaced by VW — even though they had assured me they could fix it. They also mentioned that while checking the wheel sensors, they had found a wire that appeared broken, as if it had been cut. On Tuesday, I went to collect my car. I was deeply disappointed and upset that I had paid for something that had not been fixed. To avoid conflict and stress, I didn’t confront them at the time and instead took my car directly to VW. At VW, I was told that nothing had been done to the ABS pump. The only visible work was on the wheel sensors, including a wire that had been connected. I was shocked because Strictly VW had told me they replaced the ABS pump seals, yet I had paid a total of R9,800 for nothing. They should have only charged me for the work done on the wheel sensors. Strictly VW is no longer the place I once trusted. I feel ****** and extremely disappointed by their service.
