Feeling ****** and extremely disappointed
On the 4th of September 2025, I took my car to Strictly VW in East London for a diagnosis as it was showing an error. They informed me that the ABS pump needed to be replaced, and they would also check the wheel speed sensors since I had them replaced recently. They told me the old sensors should have just been cleaned instead of replaced, as they were still in good condition as I showed them. The price for the pump was very high, so they gave me two options: either replace the seals on the ABS pump or replace the pump entirely. I chose to have the seals replaced and left my car there. They told me the work would take the whole day. I expected a call on Friday or Monday morning confirming that my car was ready. However, on Monday morning, after not hearing from them, I phoned to follow up. I was told they were still busy with the car and didn’t manage to work on it on Friday. Later that afternoon, they called to say the car was ready for collection, but they were unable to clear the error and that the pump still needed to be replaced by VW — even though they had assured me they could fix it. They also mentioned that while checking the wheel sensors, they had found a wire that appeared broken, as if it had been cut. On Tuesday, I went to collect my car. I was deeply disappointed and upset that I had paid for something that had not been fixed. To avoid conflict and stress, I didn’t confront them at the time and instead took my car directly to VW. At VW, I was told that nothing had been done to the ABS pump. The only visible work was on the wheel sensors, including a wire that had been connected. I was shocked because Strictly VW had told me they replaced the ABS pump seals, yet I had paid a total of R9,800 for nothing. They should have only charged me for the work done on the wheel sensors. Strictly VW is no longer the place I once trusted. I feel ****** and extremely disappointed by their service.
