AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, RE/MAX of Southern Africa presents a sharply divided experience. Sellers and buyers who work with a strong individual agent describe seamless, stress-free transactions and name that agent with genuine warmth. Tenants and landlords dealing with franchise rental departments describe a very different reality of withheld deposits, unresolved maintenance, misdirected utility money and escalations that go unanswered at both branch and head office level.

Rozelle in Alberton, Bennie Smal, Felix Boralinde, Elton, Tania Brits and Team Paul and Renee are named for honesty, urgency and going out of their way, though rude and absent agents pull Agent Professionalism (2.3) down.

SHOCKING SERVICE - REMAX INFOGLOBE - SHAUN MURPHY

EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE IN A NUTSHELL: Extremely disappointing and unprofessional service from REMAX agent Shaun Murphy. I have dealt with a number of property agents over the years, and my experience with Shaun Murphy has been, without question, one of the most unprofessional I have encountered. From the beginning, communication was extremely poor. We requested an application form immediately after viewing the property, yet it took several days to receive it. After submitting our application, it took approximately a week for our application to even be acknowledged. Thereafter, messages, emails and calls were repeatedly left unanswered, with little to no communication or updates provided throughout the process. After approximately two weeks, we were informed that we were required to pay R500 for a TPN credit check. We paid this fee as requested. A week later, Shaun advised us that we had passed the TPN check with an A+ rating. We subsequently requested the results/documentation, but these were never provided despite our request. Another week then passed before we were eventually informed that our application could not proceed because the landlord had decided to extend the lease of the existing occupants. Had this information been communicated to us properly and timeously, we would have avoided spending weeks pursuing a property that was ultimately unavailable, as well as unnecessarily incurring the R500 TPN cost. We made it very clear that we remained interested in the property and were not in a rush, meaning there was every opportunity to maintain communication with us should the property become available again. Once again, however, we received no meaningful follow-up. I subsequently contacted REMAX directly to lodge a complaint. I was advised that the matter would be discussed with Shaun. Unfortunately, this appears to have made little difference, as the communication issues remained unresolved. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that I am currently renting through Pam Golding Properties, where I have experienced an entirely different standard of service — professional communication, responsiveness and proper follow-up. The contrast could not be clearer. To be clear, my complaint is not that we were unsuccessful in securing the property. Landlords are entitled to change their plans and extend existing leases. That is understandable. My complaint is the unacceptable manner in which the application was handled: delayed responses, unanswered calls and messages, a lack of transparency, inadequate updates, failure to provide requested documentation, and ultimately weeks of our time being wasted and R500 incurred unnecessarily. An estate agent is representing not only themselves, but also the brand they operate under. This level of service reflects very poorly on REMAX and is certainly not the standard I would expect from a reputable property group. REMAX management: I strongly recommend that you investigate this matter and review the conduct and service provided by this agent. Customers should not have to repeatedly chase an agent for basic communication and updates, particularly when they have comp**** with every requirement and paid fees requested of them. An extremely disappointing experience and a serious failure in professional service. I sincerely hope REMAX takes this complaint seriously and addresses the matter appropriately.

Best Agent advisor

I would like to sincerely thank Matshepo Mafisa for her time, professionalism, honesty, and genuine care. She did not simply come to view the property, take pictures, and leave. She took the time to sit down with us as a family, listen to our reasons for wanting to sell, and give us honest and realistic advice. She helped us look at the bigger picture and understand the possible consequences of selling a home, especially when the main reason is a temporary financial challenge. What stood out most was that she did not pressure us to sell. Instead, she genuinely wanted what was best for our family and helped us realise that, because we love our home and have no actual problem with the property itself, perhaps selling may not be the best decision for us right now. Her advice brought clarity and made us reconsider our decision as a family. We are truly grateful for the wisdom, kindness, and professionalism she showed us. Thank you, Matheapo, for bringing sense and perspective to the situation. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an honest and caring property professional. ❤️🏡

Eduard from RE/MAX De Kloof is incredible

We cannot recommend Eduard enough! From day one he was so helpful, responsive, and understanding. Even a week after his knee operation he was willing to come and open the home for us for a second viewing so we could take measurements — that level of service is rare. He always rep**** to our questions quickly and made the whole process stress-free. We’re now at the last stages with lodgement at the Deeds Office, and it’s only been a month since we started. That’s how efficient and on-the-ball Eduard is. If you want an agent who truly cares and goes above and beyond, Eduard from RE/MAX is your guy. Thank you for helping us buy our home!

RE/MAX COAST AND COUNTRY

I am very disappointed with RE/MAX COAST AND COUNTRY. The letting agent botched up on the original lease agreement, 3 subsequent addendum's, letter of demand and on collecting the correct deposit before giving the tenants access to my property. I emailed the principal and the broker manager with the issues I had with this letting agent in question. I still haven’t had a single reply from any of these two men. Not even an apology. I will never use REMAX COAST AND COUNTRY again because I don’t think they understand their own inadequate mandate or lease agreement. I was exhausted quoting their own lease agreement and mandate back to them and clauses that should have been adhered to. Never again REMAX COAST AND COUNTRY.

RE/MAX Alberton - Thank you Rozelle

I just want to give a huge thank you to Rozelle from RE/MAX Alberton for her exceptional service. In a time where so many agents are unresponsive, lack urgency, and often come across as unprofessional, Rozelle truly stands out. She has been professional, efficient, quick, and incredibly helpful throughout. I am genuinely impressed with her service and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an agent they can trust to manage their property. Outstanding service!

Bad review on my property

I have tenants in my property and remax does not seem to care or follow up. My bills in my property keep rising and the agents have no sense of urgency to be bothered. It’s been about 3 weeks and remax can not provide service. Absolutely disappointed and can not deal with such incompetence.

REMAX TABLEVIEW ESTELLE MAY

I have received an Invoice from REMAX TABLEVIEW Cape Town, Agent ESTELLE MAY to pay rent for August 2026. I gave my notice at the end of May 2026, paid for June and July (2 months' notice) rent. I am told I am liable for ANY rent due, as she has not found a suitable tenant. HOW IS THIS LEGAL? Which means she can sit on her buttom, doesn't need to find a tenant cos she is charging me for the rent. This is disgusting, day light *******, a SIN and absolute BS. She doesn't respond to my emails, has not refunded us our deposit but is comfortable to send me RENT DUE BY YOU invoices. SHOCKING ... Something needs to be done about this urgently, I am sure this is NOT RIGHT at all.

*********, dishonest, disgraceful

Not only disappointing, but ********. I rented a place that ended up having electrical, plumbing, and structural issues. The agents are aware of these issues and assign interns to rent the property out. They do not declare any of the issues. There is mold, water damage, and water ingress around a power outlet. Considering the amount of mould that grew despite cleaning it repeatedly, indicates ongoing water ingress issues. Water coming into the flat when it rained and the wooden floors rotting near pipes further shows ongoing water ingress. Multiple personal items were damaged because they were in the wardrobe with the undeclared mould and water ingress. The lessor and agents claimed they had a valid CoC, but refused to provide it when asked. With water ingress around an electrical socket, as well as mould, the validity was further questioned. If an electrician issues a CoC under those conditions, they would lose their license. Multiple electronics, including my laptop, brand new out-of-the-box washing machine, and brand new out-of-the-box phone (my original phone fried and needed to be replaced during occupancy), were severely damaged. My laptop is my source of income and livelihood. Their lawyer was involved as an ************ tactic and a means to avoid accountability. No accountability, no declaration of defects, and no ownership of wrongdoing. I lived with a sewage smell because of a P-trap issue that the agency is aware of. RE/MAX Infoglobe is *********, dishonest, and operates as though the law and regulations are a suggestion.
