Was called and told I'd be receiving two free sim cards for being a longtime customer, with no changes to my current accounts

Was called and told I'd be receiving two free sim cards for being a longtime customer, with no changes to my current accounts. Only to find out I can't connect today because my accounts are pending migration (no warning) to a new product. This is a change that wasn't mentioned. Evening plans ruined. Which service doesn't do such?
