Unusable internet speeds (slower than 0.3mbps)
I have recently subscribed to Rain's Unlimited 24/7 4G LTE service. (Thursday, 16 April 2020)
However, I have consistently been getting speeds of under 0.3mbps. I'm paying for a service for up to 10mbps. I actually expect to get a minimum of 4mbps.
Although I appreciate the efforts to provide affordable internet for South Africans, this service is actually no service at all.
I can hardly browse the internet, let alone work productively from home as are expected from many South Africans during this time.
Is this a technical problem that you are aware of and are in the process of rectifying? If so, is there an estimated timeline to the resolution of this issue?
If not, are these the internet speeds that I should consistently be expecting from Rain? If so, I would recommend Rain to be forthcoming, since I (and many other South Africans) would rather pay more for reliable internet, especially since we are in lockdown and working from home.
Since I paid for an entire month's worth of internet from Rain, but have effectively been unable to use it (other than late at night), I would like to insist on a refund. I'm going to have to spend more money on reliable LTE, as opposed to internet speeds which are slower than dial-up in the '90s.
I am utterly disappointed.
