Title: I am willing to pay any legitimate final balance — Rain just won't provide a clear account of what I actually owe
I have been a Rain customer for more than five years.
I recently decided to cancel my Rain 5G service because of ongoing connectivity problems. The connection repeatedly cut out, and I was advised by Rain support to upgrade my package and replace my router. I did not want to upgrade, so on **28 July 2026** I formally requested cancellation through Rain's official WhatsApp support channel.
Rain acknowledged my cancellation request and asked whether I wanted a cancellation ticket logged. I agreed.
During the same conversation, I queried an alleged outstanding balance of **R619**. Rain said this amount related to May 2026, but I disputed the charge because the explanation did not make sense to me and I asked Rain to provide the supporting account records.
Rain then asked me to verify my identity using an OTP. I completed the verification, after which Rain confirmed that my billing dispute had been successfully logged.
**Dispute reference:** askrain support **#*****
I was told that the Billing Team would investigate the matter and get back to me.
They never did.
Instead, I continued receiving automated messages demanding payment and offering me a "Promise to Pay" arrangement.
I responded in writing that I did not want a payment arrangement because I was waiting for the outcome of the billing dispute that Rain itself had logged.
What has made this situation especially frustrating is the inconsistent information I have received from Rain:
* Initially I was told there was **one unpaid invoice**. * Shortly afterwards I was told there were **multiple unpaid invoices**. * I was told the R619 related to May 2026. * During my WhatsApp conversation in July 2026, the chatbot even stated that my service would remain active until **30 May 2026**, which was already in the past. * More recently, a Rain agent telephoned me and told me that I now allegedly owe **two months**.
When I asked the agent to explain exactly which two months were outstanding and provide proof, I was told to check the system myself.
I asked why I should rely on the system when the official Rain WhatsApp chatbot had provided contradictory information. The agent's response was that **the chatbot makes mistakes and should not be trusted**.
This is where my concern lies.
My cancellation request was submitted through Rain's official WhatsApp channel.
My identity was verified through that channel.
My dispute was logged through that channel.
I was issued an official dispute reference through that channel.
Rain then says that I should not rely on information provided by its own official support channel because the bot may be wrong.
I am **not refusing to pay Rain**.
I have repeatedly stated that if I legitimately owe a final month's subscription in accordance with Rain's terms and the cancellation date, I will pay it.
All I have asked Rain to provide is:
1. A complete statement of account. 2. Copies of the outstanding invoices. 3. The exact months that are allegedly unpaid. 4. The date my cancellation request was received and processed. 5. The effective cancellation date. 6. The outcome of dispute **#*****. 7. Instructions for returning the router.
I have acted in good faith throughout this process. I reported the poor service, formally requested cancellation, completed the OTP verification Rain required, cooperated with the dispute process, and waited for the promised investigation.
Rain has not provided the outcome of the dispute or the supporting documentation I requested. Instead, the amount being claimed appears to have changed from one month to two months without a clear written explanation.
I simply want Rain to provide a transparent, documented account of what I owe. If the final balance is correct, I will settle it. I do not believe it is reasonable to keep demanding payment while failing to answer a formally logged billing dispute or provide the invoices and account records supporting the amount claimed.
I am posting here in the hope that Rain will finally provide the documentation and resolve the matter fairly and transparently.
