RAIN MOBILE - unlimited home 5G standard - A LESSON in what SILENT customer service is.
This company was recommended to me by a mate of mine, after we were discussing the train wreck that is Telkom/Hellkom uncapped ADSL service, he mentioned this company (Rain Mobile), who had a package available on their site, known as the unlimited home 5G standard, valued at R699, was something I should look into, a mistake I will not be repeating and urge others to do the same, not out of solidarity mind you, but simple fear of paying and being charged for a service that DOES NOT WORK.
So after going to the site, there were instructions for me to go through the investigation of 5G coverage within my area, which I did and I found that my area was well within both 4G and 5G coverage, that they offered and I went about making a query, to the company via their website, about the purchase of the 5G unlimited package, mentioned above.
I made a sales query on their site, and I got a phone call 2 days later from their sales team, who all but promised that their service was the future and borderine flawless (typical fanfare, I know).
Explaining to me how their service was better than both ADSL and Fibre connections, and also how they had better service then Telkom, whom I was eager to move away from, due to the obvious customer service related reasons, that are the norm with all hellkom services.
Anyway, after I made the purchase of the Rain mobile service on 19 May 2020, and fully paying for the package, it was delivered on 21st May 2020.
After following the instructions for the setup of the service, I tried connecting and using the service, but to my dismay it did not connect to either their 4G or 5G service, thinking that this was caused by a sim card activation wait period, I waited for 24 hours, armed with this wait and confirmation of activation email from Rain Mobile (sent 21st May 2020) that I have been activated and should be able to connect, I connected my device, only to find that it DID NOT CONNECT to either their 4G or 5G service.
I logged an incident on (22nd May 2020), hoping this was a minor technical ERROR that should be resolved swiftly, as I suspected that it was a simple matter. The ref number given was ***, where no contact was made to me and the matter remained completely ignored by the company, this I know because on the 1st June 2020, I got the insult, that was an automated follow up email, that asked me to rate their service, which I ranked as 0 and lodged a complaint, on the survey that was attached to the email, hoping that this would result in some assistance from the company, but that was not the case.
I have still not heard any feedback on this incident from the company.
I went about logging another incident request (27th May 2020), ref number ***, as I could not use the very service, that they had charged me for, but once again, same thing happened with this request, where there was NO SUPPORT given by the company, and to add further insult to the injury of being charged for a NOT WORKING SERVICE, without fail there came another automated follow up email, asking me to rate their service.
At this point I have had enough of their bull**** and decided to write off the R699, plus an additional R232, they charged me for reasons I cannot rightly understand.
Also I have a neighbour within my complex, who has suffered similar lack of service experience with this service provider.
I am hoping that this review will deter people from the borderline **** experience, I have been through.
My final statements about this company is they have a typical sales team, who make contact with potential customers as efficiently as ever, but once you have made a purchase of their service, they DO NOT PROVIDE any customer support whatsoever, but they will bill you unexpectedly for the pleasure of enduring their unacceptable customer service and let's not forget the automated rate our service follow up mail.
I strongly recommend against the purchase of this company's service, as it seems to be a new way to waste your money.
