Rain is Costing me Thousands! More than 48hours DOWN!

If ever you are considering switching to Rain from fibre. These are the kinds of problems that you’ll be dealing with. Being able to work from home for international companies is a massive advantage nowadays, but only if you have a reliable ISP. I’ve never had problems with my fibre line, but now that I am using Rain 5G Outdoor Router, their top of the lot Routers - I have been without coverage for more than 48 hours. For someone earning per hour, that unfortunately means that I won’t be able to pay my rain bill this month and most probably move over to a reliable fibre line.

The Rain Call Centre has been advising me since Wednesday to connect to a third tower - but they never compared my altitude to that of the tower, as a result I can’t connect because the tower is way below me.

The two nearest towers to my house have both been out since Wednesday. Seems like my area doesn’t have enough users for rain to escalate this matter onto a priority list. Therefore, I’d just like to share my experience on a platform where users can get honest opinions.

Do not opt for Rain if you want a reliable network that won’t let you down and cost you thousands of rands in return.
