RAIN Internet. 4/5

Firstly, I would have rated RAIN with 5 stars, but have only one issue and that is regarding their inconsistency in download speed. I will explain more regarding this issue soon enough, but feel it important to elaborate on the well earned (in my humble opinion) 4 stars first, in the hope of keeping you reading my review to its end.

Pro's: • To the best of my knowledge, RAIN provides the best value-for-money internet service packages, making the internet more accessible to those of us sitting at the lower end of the salary scale. • On most (if not all) packages, no contract is required, which perhaps shows RAIN to be a service provider unafraid of relying on legal commitment from it's customers, which seems to project a reasonable enough amount of cer*****y in promising to provide a consistent service, without the "fine print" of Terms & Conditions their contractual competitors may be able to fall back on, in the event of poor service delivery!? • From day of order, required proof of payment sent, to delivery of the RAIN SIM card, one will be pleasantly surprised by their speedy service and activation thereof. •Lastly and very much a personal opinion, RAIN Management must certainly have a genius in their HR Department, as She/He hired a FANTASTIC gentleman by the name of Bheki, with whom I have dealt with regarding the aforementioned download speed difficulties experienced of late. Not only does the gentleman seem genuinely commited and sincerely invested in assisting (to the best of his abilities and within the restraints of cautionary wording training recieved by most call centre employess during induction), but His candour and excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical information, in order to help one understand the basics of that voodoo we technically challenged call "the internet", satisfies even a 44 year old "dinosaur" (my teenage son's words, not mine) like myself, in feeling I am not being talked to as a "non-teenager" who should know something as "basic" as bandwidth, Mbps, loss %, jitter and so on and so forth. So I dedicate two of the given stars to You Bheki. Well done and thank you.

Con's: • Unfortunately, with a greater client base, comes more demand and this seems to have had an effect on the download speed problem experienced of late. When my wife first realised the value and convenience in obtaining a RAIN sim at the very beginning of the COVID lockdown (so that our two sons could have access to school work materi and endless hours of much needed entertainment, within the confines of our home), the four of us could simultaneously watch 600Mb-1Gb movies on our respective smartphones with little or no "hanging" issues, all day and into the evenings, regardless of the time. Currently, we find that there are certain "peak" times, whereby only one at a time is able to view a movie, as more than one user causes continuous "hanging" and we now find that we must take turns to download movies etc. That said, without spending perhaps 4 times what we do now, which is the cost bracket of much larger salary earners, we will simply have to wait until RAIN is able to upgrade the equipment in our area, which is probably the same issue all other internet service providers experience from time to time.

In conclusion, we will most probably remain customers of RAIN and hope the download speed in our area improves as soon as possible.
