RAIN HAS NO 4G, ZERO ABILITY TO DO THEIR BILLING AND NO CUSTOMER CARE
If I cound give RAIN zero stars, I would have. I have been struggling with RAIN for about a year now, and need to warn South Africa about what to expect when you sign up with RAIN: (1) The sales team will lie to you about the promotion. They told us the first month is for only R1, but that was a lie. They use scripted sentences during the sales call and then explain afterwards why it was ACTUALLY not free... (2) If you need help from the call centre, it is only available between 8am and 5pm. They work the same hours of the Post Office, and will soon also be bankrupt like the post office. That's why RAIN does not do contracts - they may not be here in 12 months... (3) 95% of call centre calls are answered in Mumbai, India. These staff members get paid less than the minimum wage here in South Africa. Big saving for RAIN. Also, outsourcing to India, means they do not have to give work to South African unemployed young people (unemployment rate at 62% at the moment for youngsters!). They rather boost India's economy than South Africa's. (4) India's RAIN staff does not get training, meaning they do not know what RICA means. I had to explain and spend hours (using my air time) to explain that my ID and that of my wife, cannot BOTH be on the same contract. India also thought RICA was the name of my sister... we both laughed for quite a while! (5) You do not get a call back. If you run out of airtime, please recharge. India's RAIN call centre agents are not allowed to phone you back. It costs RAIN a lot of money... (6) You cannot speak to a call centre person here in South Africa. RAIN INDIA has no means to re-route your call to South Africa, where somebody may be able to understand and assist... What does the RAIN staff in SA do if everything is done in INDIA??? (7) They say they have 5G, but they don't. It is actually just 4G at a better speed. Well, this is what INDIA explained to me. Maybe that's false, maybe they were not trained properly in India, I do not know... (8) When you sign up, they tell you you can cancel at any time. No, you cannot. I cancelled and they insisted that I pay another month. Previous RAIN subscriptions were post paid, RAIN ONE is pre-paid, but when it comes to paying, please budget for an extra month... (9) In order for RAIN not to ***** from me, I moved all my money to a different account. Now, RAIN submit their debit order EVERY DAY, costing you more in bank charges than in their actual monthly fee. Maybe they share these bank charges with SA Banks... I can only assume. (10) Use your own router. Keep RAIN's router in the box. Here's why... To get signal with their router, you may have to put the router in the bathroom. Please be careful with your extension cords, you do not want to get shocked and die while brushing your teeth. (11) Once you find a spot for the RAIN router, do not walk or stand in front of it. It is EXTREMELY sensitive and will lose signal... Even 4G will not be available. (12) During the loadshedding, you will have ZERO signal, because RAIN does not have batteries in their base stations... I can go on with at least another 10 reasons, but I need to sign up with MTN (now cheaper than RAIN) or Vodacom because after a year of fighting, I am tired. I BEG OF YOU.... Please do not use RAIN as your internet service provider. With RAIN it never rains, it POURS ... pun intended!
