Rain failing to deliver! Frustrated client
Good day, I have an unlimited Wi-Fi connection subscription with Rain that charges R499 monthly. I have not by far had issues with Rain till recent. On the 29th April 2024 my 4G simcard stopped responding, after investigation we discovered that it was emanated. I sent Rain communication through their support email address on the 29th April, including the 30th April and 01st May 2024; yet still no one rep**** to my emails nor phoned me to help resolve the issue. On the 02nd May 2024, I phoned Rain and opted for a call back to which a consultant phoned me back and we went through the Rain application to request a simswap for the damaged unlimited subscription. The consultant confirmed over the phone that they have received my request and that I will receive a new simcard between 3 to 5 working days. The reference for this was ***5 and the confirmation email read like this: rain we're here to help Hey Monica Kotollu, Thanks for the chat, I’m glad I could help! We apologize for the inconvenience caused. As per our telephone conversation, we have received your request for the SIM Swap so kindly wait for 3-5 working days for the delivery. Before you get going, please could you spare a quick moment to add a review on Hello Peter about the helpful service you received. You can click here to write your review directly from WhatsApp. Happy internetting! Rupa Talwar rain South Africa Reference Number: ***5
On the 09th May 2024 I sent a call back request since I have not received n sms confirming simcard delivery as per communication, nor have I received the simcard to swap with.
I then went on to the app to reapply for yet another simswap on the 11th May 2024, to which no reference number was sent from rain.
This morning at 11:49 am I honed rain regarding the issue and Ellen was the consultant who I spoke with and she confirmed that she can see the issue logged on their system and that she will escalate the matter.
This escalation was confirmed to have no turn around time.
Reference number for this mornings call was confirmed via email as ***6.
Around 15:10noon today I phone Rain support and provided them with the reference number ***6, to which the consultant I spoke with said it’s not on their system and instead he has ***7… I did not get the name of the consultant.
He asked what he could help with and I confirmed the above details. He told me that my simcard will be delivered with 3 to 5 working days.
He had no reference of the call placed this morning for the escalation.
I have not had internet connection from 29 April 2024 till to date.
I have a child whose studies have been on hold for the duration due to this inconvenience.
My unlimited subscription with Rain is aid and I should not be inconvenienced to an extend where I have to spend more on Wi-Fi when I already have a paid an unlimited subscription.
I am beyond frustrated and need to Rain to rebuild the trust with a solution that is promt considering their poor correspondence.
Regards, Kotollu

By far my son has lost time on his school work since he is studying online.
My monthly subscription costs R499 & I’ve had to spend more due to this inconvenience.
I reviewed Rain ISP on Monday the 13th May 2024 as a Frustrated Client due to failing to deliver.
On Tuesday 14th May 2024 I received a call from a courier company confirming my delivery address for the Rain sim swap.
Today (15th May 2024) the courier company delivered the sim swap.
After processing the SIM card and trying to connect to the internet the connection confirmed that I do not have a internet connection.
I phoned rain, requested a call back. This was around 11am. A consultant phoned me back around 12, her name is Olwethu.
She confirmed after checking on the Rain system that an incorrect SIM card for the swap was delivered, hence I did not have an internet connection for the 4G unlimited internet subscription.
She also confirmed that they are unable to convert simcards and data on their system.
Therefore, I have to wait for another 3 to 5 working days for yet another sim card to be delivered.
I am beyond frustrated at this point and disappointed for this kind of customer care.

Yesterday (16 May 2024) I received another simcard that was swapped since the one that was delivered on the 15th May 2024 was incorrect.
I received the new sim card around 11:55am, activated the SIM card to which it did not provide internet connection.
I phoned Rain at 12:33noon and spoke to Lungile who attempted to assist in resolving the issue and regrettably she was unable to.
She escalated the issue to the network department and confirmed that they should give me a call. She also confirmed that this will be done within 24 hours.
No call was received.
Today (17 May 2024) I phoned Rain at 13:03noon, seeing that it’s over 24 hours and the network department has not phoned me back to assist with the issue reported.
I spoke to a consultant by the name of Slade Tailor. I explained the issue that I’ve had from 29 April 2024 till to date and he was able to assist me with navigating the setting on my phone.
He confirmed that he has knowledge of the type of device that I am using for my Rain SIM card, which made it effortless to connect to the internet within seconds after the navigation the settings.
Slade Taylor also confirmed that my account was reimbursed for the period that I did not have any internet connection and confirmed that on my next payment date I will be paying less that R499.
To the Rain Team: thank you for the effort invested, thank you for the prompt responses on HelloPeter and to Slade Taylor, thank you for saving the day. Thank you for the knowledge that brought my hope back. You truly saved the day and I appreciate it.
Happy internetting indeed 😉
Relieved and happy client,
