Rain deliberately limiting paid customers from using the Internet service they pay for, even while advertising "unlimited Internet packages"!

Rain Internet Service Provider is involved in a rather ********* business practice that is, well, legal as far as administrative technicality is concerned, but very dishonest towards the consumer-level customers paying their hard earned cash to the company.

I'll try to explain this technical exploit as best as I can, so that hopefully visitors viewing this page can understand how they are being exploited.

Sometimes your software or game acts as a server hosting content so that this content can be reached by other users over the Internet. This is called server-level content. It is a legal form of communication and content access. Rain intentionally blocks this information from being reached by blocking this function across their networks. This function they are blocking is what we called "Port Forwarding of the IP address". The result of doing this is that even though you are paying for the use of their services, you will not be able to play many games. You will not be able to host or serve content via a server, and since many software and games acts as virtual servers, in effect those will be blocked also. You will not even be able to communicate with Cambridge support if you intend to study through Cambridge because Rain blocks form submission of your inquiries via their Port Forwarding blocking system. In fact, if you find that your purposes for choosing Rain as a service provider is not working, chances are that Rain is blocking that service via Port Forwarding blocking. It is a deliberate attempt at limiting the access to the network, so that the direct consumer end-user is limited to the bare minimum, so that the company can reserve access to their big clients like Afrihost and others who are second-level providers to the public who are paying Rain a lot of money.

So far as Rain is concerned, they don't want the consumer-level subscribers benefitting because we are too insignificant. That's just the horrible truth, say it as tactfully as you want.

Some of you may be surprised when I wrote earlier that you won't even be able to write to Cambridge's Support desk. Well here's what happened when I did that. Notice the technical error shows the reason for denying access to my form submission as being exactly that problem: "Block ID: EXPVP15 Block reason: Exploit attempt denied by virtual patching." So yup. Sorry if you're with Rain and want to study through Cambridge! "Virtual patching" is exactly what happens when they block server-client requests and responses. In layman's terms, it means your request cannot be completed and will fail, generating an error in some cases. Of course, this will happen on many sites which require you to submit a form and that form is configured in a specific way. The long and short of it is that Rain blocks valid Internet traffic from their paid customers, and that is plain evil, *********, plain wrong!

I have confirmed everything I just posted here with an inside employee whose name I will not mention to protect him from losing his job. These are deliberate restrictions implemented by Rain's policy makers. They will not necessarily be willing to admit this, but it is a fact.

I also have E-mails from Support desk to prove that all the above is true, who were forced to admit this when I twisted their arm. I can furnish these to anyone wanting to see these E-mails.

I would like to ask the customer base to join me in forcing the company to lift restrictions on services we are paying for. If they refuse, let's take our business elsewhere by voting against this dirty and dishonest policy with our money.

Anyone wanting further info can E-mail me: ykhandoo followed by the At sign, followed by the word Webmail, then the dot co dot za. Now decode that to a proper E-mail address and send me an E-mail. I had to mask it to prevent spam. So contact me and let's get some collective action going. We can only achieve this if the consumer public stands together. We must discuss how to put pressure that they will feel the pinch. Otherwise they just won't care.

Thank you.

Yogan

Reviewer Update
Hi, Please note I have sent you my E-mail address in a private reply. I previously also reported this on your Facebook page, and was told to provide my E-mail address where I was contacted to discuss the matter, only to be told that nothing can be done because this is company policy to block your dynamically leased IPs from being port forwarded to. Thank you. Awaiting your response which hopefully will be more satisfactory. I will post results here as well as at my personal Facebook page and on Rain's Facebook page. Thanks.
