Rain are a shower vol 3

This is a brief history of our experience with Rain;

Because of their advertising we decided to adapt from their 4G to their 5G package and made the transition in May 2024. We enquired about the package (their 1st chance to advise they could not deliver it in our area). We called to agree to the package (their 2nd chance to advise no coverage in our area). We then drove from Plattekloof to CT centre to collect the 5G equipment from their office there (their 3rd chance to advise us they had no 5G coverage in our area). This trip to/from their premises was, of course, at our expense. We were immediately debited double what their package should cost per month. We tried to contact Rain to find out why we were being charged so much and had growing issues with service speeds, dropouts etc... We made 5 calls to their advertised "Support" people without anyone answering the call. Our time, our stress, our airtime. We also wrote emails to their supposed "Support" area twice (the 2nd time in December 2025) and have received no response from them. In early October 2025 we were finally answered when we called the advertised number for Support. We were advised that we had not even been moved to a 5G tower (despite the fact that we had been paying for a 5G service since May 2024!) and the Rain employee told us she had now moved us to the nearest 5G tower. The service was little better but the signal seemed to be weak so we called Rain again 2 weeks later to report this. To our amazement the employee then told us we had no 5G tower close enough to us to give a stronger signal and even proposed that we move our router (which under 4G had been perfectly situated) to a window to get a better signal. Put another way he said we had no tower close enough to duplicate the 4G service we had originally had but, if we totally rearranged our lounge this might improve matters. We cancelled our Rain contract from December 1st 2025 but still had no response from them regarding our double billing issues. During this time, when we actually got any response from Rain we were advised that the employee had escalated our issues to "management" who would contact us to discuss the issues. NO SUCH CONTACT WAS EVER MADE DESPITE RAIN HAVING ALL OUR CONTACT DETAILS!!!! We reported them to the Mediation Service for ISPs and finally Rain called us on Sunday March 8th to discuss our issues - this was the 1st such call despite our being promised calls from other contacts including 2 from a courier wanting to collect Rain's 5G equipment from us and 3 more because of escalations promised by Rain staff. It was determined that we had been paying both for the new (undelivered) 5G package and our old 4G package since May 2024. A refund of the 5G charges was agreed and I asked for compensation for our wasted time, stress and expenses we incurred during the months we had been "blanked" by them. I was told they had a "No Compensation" policy. In other words they can ***** up big time with no consequences to themselves! KEY POINT - Rain could have engaged with us many times during 2024/5 but did not do so - the fact that the whole mess took 18 months to resolve is ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT and the ensuing expense, wasted time and stress on us is also ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT. We will now escalate this further to fight for compensation for the above reasons and for interest on our payments as we could have left the wrongly collected charges in an account bearing interest. If you sign up with Rain after reading this review - good luck!
