Poor technical skills and service delivery from Rain

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH RAIN

I had a month to month contract with Rain since 2000. I recently "upgraded" my account to the Rain 101 and ported my cell phone number to one of the sim cards we got for free along with this contract.

The internet kept dropping and despite contacting Rain several times over the course of 3 weeks, they were unable to resolve the issue, did not phone back or send technicians out as promised.

The cell reception was very also extremely poor and if someone tried to phone me (not through whatsapp or wifi) the phone would say "This number does not exist".

I finally cancelled the Rain contract after one month.

After having cancelled I wanted to port my number to a different cell network provider but the number could not port. Once I contacted Rain, I was informed that I was supposed to port this number out BEFORE the cancellation of the contract - info which NONE of the Rain personnel shared with me even though I spoke with two call center operators in the week prior to cancellation. Apparently if the number is not ported out before the contract is cancelled, they cannot retrieve it! I have had this same number for several years and it would be a great loss if it could not be retrieved!

Side note: I did not appreciate having to deal with call centers in India, since some of these operators don't speak clearly at all.

I would not recommend Rain to anyone.

UPDATE: Turns out I that I have requested the port just before the contract was cancelled and therefore my number could be saved.

(Important information which should be clearly communicated.)
