MY experience with RAIN has pushed my Blood Pressure up and made me very sick!!! Please, Stay very far away!
Based on extremely poor service levels, I seriously would not recommend RAIN to anyone anymore, even if I should start a campaign to discourage people from wasting their hard earned money on services they won't be getting. RAIN is only good at signing up new customers but once they are sucked in, they get neglected and disrespected! I have been experiencing MASSIVE problems with BOTH my 5G and 4G Internet for the last 4 weeks and no one was assisting me, until today (It's my birthday, nogals!)
I have been on the Premium 5G package for 12 months straight and I had amazing internet with very little downtime experienced. I used to get over 200mbps download speeds and roughly 40mbps upload. Suddenly, from the middle part of October I started getting erratic speeds, only getting 20mbps download and my upload was often under 1mbps. A week later my downloads speeds shot down to roughly 1 mbps (which is hardly enough to open an email) and the upload shot up to roughly 20 mbps. Not long after that, both download and upload speeds were hovering around 2mbps. Whenever I called Customer Care, they would tell me that the towers are all up and running but the speed tests revealed a totally different story. WhenI checked on My rain Dashboard, I noticed that my router was connected to a site that was 6km's away. I have repositioned the router so many times, placing it in different parts of the house including at the window facing the nearest tower but it seemed to do no good. I resetted and rebooted the router numerous times but yielded nothing. This problem continued 3 weeks straight and after spending over R200 of call after call to the Call centre my problems were never resolved. Within those 3 weeks of no connectivity not a single RAIN consultant attempted to call or email me back. I had to cancel my 5G on the last day of October because of intermittent connectivity. When I called customer care to escalate the collection of my 5G router, a consultant advised me to try out 4G, claiming that more towers make use of the 4G technology and they tend to be more online and reliable. I eventually took the consultant at his word. I ordered my 4G sim and it was delivered 5 days later. Upon activation and using the sim, I was faced with the SAME dilemma! PITIFUL SPEEDS THAT YOU WON'T EVEN FIND IN OTHER 3RD WORLD COUNTRIES!
I reached out to RAIN on their Facebook's channel and a consultant promised me that they will resend the router back to me at no charge because the towers are all allegedly back on now, and, because it's my birthday today (9 November), they claimed that they are going to go the extra mile today to ensure that I will get the best service guaranteed but that of course remains to be seen. (Which means they initially **** to me all the time denying that the towers were ever off)!!!
