Misleading Advertising Promising High Speed Internet But Does Not Deliver

Because I signed up with Netflix I need an internet connection of at least 4Mbps to stream. I was not getting that from basic ADSL connection and I was pleased that RAIN offered High Speed LTE-Advanced Internet packages from various ISPs. They promised internet speeds from at least 10Mbps to as high as 50 Mbps. I signed up with RAIN via MWEB in August 2017 on a month-to-month basis for R550 per month for 110GB data per month. I had to buy a Huawei B618 router for R1600 that took RAIN sim card. I was told my Netgear LTE router cannot use RAIN sim card. I live in Kenilworth, Cape Town and the first few months was fantastic with internet speeds of 25-40 Mbps. I could finally enjoy watching Netflix without grainy images and no interruptions. In December 2017, I noticed a dramatic drop in internet speed between 6-8 Mbps. This was still okay for me because Netflix still works at 4Mbps. But in January 2018, the internet dropped to 1-2 Mbps which is even worse than ADSL connection. I called a few times to MWEB to lodge complaints and so far there has been no response or improvement in service. I even complained on their facebook page and all they said I must send them an email with my sim card number. There were similar complaints on their facebook page where new users mention that they getting very high speed internet but after a few months it drops down to 1-2 Mbps. Today I cancelled my subscription to RAIN because for the past 6 days I have no internet. Speed tests now measure less than 1Mbps. I was told my MWEB that I need to give one month calender notice to cancel. RAIN charges in advance. So I already paid them for February 2018, but I have pathetic internet speed, and now they want to charge R550 on 1 March 2018 for another month before it terminates on 1 April 2018. I think this company is ripping us off. If you pay in advance why must you give a full month's notice. This is just a method of ******** customers for money for additional 30 days for a service that is not being rendered. NEVER SIGN UP TO RAIN NETWORK! DON'T FALL FOR TRAP FOR HIGH SPEED LTE-A INTERNET! RAIN is a major disappointment. My opinion is that they only offer high speed to new subscribers and then after 3-4 months, they throttle your internet speed so that you cannot even watch Netflix. I had to cancel Netflix as well. I will look at Netflix and other streaming services towards end of 2018, when all these internet ****s have subsided. I hate South African ISPs that promise high speed internet at attractive subscriptions and when you sign up, the internet experience is major disappointment. When you want to cancel, they still get away by charging you for another month. When is our government going to do something about this? I have also lodged a complaint with Consumer Protection Act for all misleading adverti*****ts by RAIN.
