Incorrect and false billing

I just received an invoice for R1257 stating that the account is 485 days overdue, which makes absolutely no sense.

When I signed up for this service, I was specifically informed that it operates on a month-to-month basis, meaning I only pay for the months during which I actively have internet access.

I did not make payment for May, and as expected, my internet access was suspended for the entire month. I am now trying to make payment, but instead I’m being billed R1.2k for a period during which I had no access to the service.

My questions are:

1. Why am I being billed for a month where no internet service was provided? 2. Why does the invoice reflect that the amount has allegedly been overdue for 485 days?

I have also been trying to contact the billing department, but my calls keep getting dropped before I can get assistance.

Can someone from the company please contact me urgently to resolve this matter?

I dispute liability for the outstanding amounts on the basis that I was not properly informed that the service operated as an automatically recurring subscription until cancellation. The service was represented to me as month-to-month, and I was not clearly advised that billing would continue automatically regardless of usage unless I actively cancelled the service. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, consumers are entitled to clear and understandable disclosure of material terms, including ongoing billing obligations. Please provide me a copy of the agreement or terms accepted by me proof that recurring billing and cancellation requirements were clearly disclosed at the time of sign up, records showing when and how these terms were communicated. Pending receipt of the above, I formally dispute the alleged debt.
