Impossible to Cancel Month to Month

Don't trust their Month-to-Month Contracts.

We have not used our Rain Sim since March 2022, as we were under the impression that the Sim was cancelled. It came to attention on 25 October 2023 that we had an outstanding balance of R750.00 and were being handed over to attorneys.

I contacted the call centre on 25 October 2023 under reference ***7 to confirm Sim cancellation and settlement of the R750.00. I was advised that if I made payment now, the cancellation would be actioned immediately, but to please call after 24 hours of payment to double check.

Payment was made directly after that call for R750 using the link on the SMS sent while on the phone with your agent.

I called again on 26 October 2023 to confirm that the cancellation had been actioned, only to be informed that no cancellation was in place. I asked, again, for the Sim to be cancelled. I was assured that no additional charges would be levied as the Sim is not in use. I received an automated email confirming cancellation (#***0 - MSISDN: *** 4G Cancellation).

Today, 2 November 2023, I logged into Rain only to find that the Sim is NOT cancelled and that there is a charge of R59.84 owing on a account that should be closed! I called and spoke to another of agents today, who told me she cannot cancel the account as there is a balance outstanding. The balance outstanding should not have been raised in the first place, as I cancelled this sim.

I requested to speak to a manager - but there isn't one available. You call the call centre, and it's the same unempowered individuals who can't solve the issue until payment is made. I've emailed, no response - not even an automated acknowledgement.

Even if Rain may offer the most competitive packages, there administration is shocking and you won't see us back there.
