Horrible Service

For anyone considering rain internet (rain South Africa) - do not waste your money.

My review: I have had a ********** experience with rain. I understand that the company is still quite new and that due to COVID-19 the staff is limited but I cannot continue with such an unreliable and slow internet connection and with the shocking service I have received from the support team. I paid R699 for “Speeds up to 30Mbps”, “HD(720p) video streaming” and “unlimited 24/7 home wifi”. However, my download speeds averaged below 10Mbps and my upload speeds never exceeded 1Mbps (this is not fast enough to make a wifi call – nevermind a video call on which my work relies heavily). My video streaming was almost always interrupted as my download speeds dropped below 1Mbps (with 4Mbps needed for HD streaming) and I definitely did not have wifi "24/7" with constant speed drops of close to 0Mpbs. I also feel that by intentionally not disclosing the upload speeds in the description of the product (knowing they are too slow), TCF is not being adhered to. I, as the customer, am definitely not being treated fairly. Not a single sales or support agent could tell me my expected upload speeds either. I was unable to make wifi calls thus video calls were out of the question completely. My experience with the rain support team was the worst I have ever experienced with any company. My unresolved cases were constantly marked as resolved and closed. I was often given poor advice and despite my best efforts to remain friendly, I found that the staff were often short, and frankly rude. I requested many callbacks of which very few were actually returned. My queries were sometimes escalated upon my request to later be closed by rain without any further response. I also requested an upgrade to 5G premium for R999 to see if the outdoor router would make a difference but after several attempts – the switch was never made and I was never helped. I gave rain the benefit for a full month and they have been unable to deliver. Rain is not worth anyone's time nor their money. You will not get anything close to what you are paying for and you will be forced to use your mobile hotspot or other means of internet connections anyway due to their unreliability. I emailed this to rain before posting it here a full week later with yet again no response.
