Honest review of my experience with RainOne 5G router
My experience with rain was a rather brief one (8 months) with its ups and downs. Their customer service could improve.
As expected, the lead-up to getting my device had a sense of urgency (they wanted a sale). The increased calls, emails, and messages(very annoying) were a reg flag. I thought I had done my research but I was in a rush for something more affordable than buying data, the no-attachment contract option was a win for me.
The not so good and Tips: 1. I received my router a week later and they took another week or so to activate it. 2. Just after procurement, I came across numerous Tweets with extensive complaints about Rain and its modus operandi. I am speaking, legal and all. I would highly encourage everyone to search for Rain on Twitter and take the time to read the comments on their Instagram account. Those comments will be an eye-opener for all. It's important to know who you are entering an agreement with. These encounters made me regret entering into an agreement with Rain and I was fueled with fear and anger. People complained about being charged even after cancellation. There are thousands of complaints about the after-services. 3. Before taking the offer, I checked if my area was covered and was given the green light. However, a few months in I experienced serious connectivity issues. Working from home was a nightmare. I had to buy data while paying for Rain. 4. I highly encourage that you do your research before giving in. Always read reviews on socials and of course here. 5. The month-to-month is essentially a contract in practice. You don't necessarily pay month to month, but it's a debit order from your account. So think about what this means for you if Rain gives you a run-around when you wish to cancel.
The somewhat good: 1. Other than the hours of no connection, overall coverage was good. 2. Having read all complaints about Rain's customer service and people’s horrific experiences (Yes horrific because your hard earned money id involved), I was prepared for fight. 3. My cancellation was influenced by two factors. One was the connection issues and second was the price increase. I had mentally prepared myself for a fight as I logged the cancellation on the app. To my surprise, the cancellation was flawless. I logged it, received an email & SMS to confirm and come month end, I had no debit order, and a courier was sent to pick up the router. 4. Had it not been for the nuances stipulated , I would have continued even with the price hike. But I had to review the cost-benefit-analysis and it made no sense to continue with Rain.
