FALSE ADVERTISING, PAYMENT FOR NO DATA

I'm using the R 529 plan 5G uncapped with rooter, SO CALLED month to month. Same problem as many that I have seen now. You still get charged for data not received due to none payment. As I and many understood, if you don't make the payment your data service will be suspended, but as soon as you pay again the next month, you data will be made available again. I have missed one month payment, my data was suspended, the next month I have made payment to get access to my data, now they hold me liable for the previous month payment, but my service was off, and no data usage. How do you pay for nothing??? I will be canceling the service, it is false advertising, and not as convenient to use as you can afford to pay as I thought. Where is the month to month in this???
