Dissapointing star

I ordered my RAIN sim around the 15th and got the sim yesterday at 14:00. Within a hour and a half I was on the RAIN Network and I was smiling all the way since I got uncapped 4g internet at R479.00. My joy was however short lived. RAIN offers poor coverage at my home address. I looked at their coverage on their website before I joined and there is suppose to be excellent coverage.

I managed to download one episode on Netflix for my wife last night which took almost 2 hours to download 328mb. I then tried to also download a series that I watch and for the last 12 hours only half of one episode downloaded. I regret leaving TELKOM for this. I called RAIN today and they said they will look into the complaint and let me know what to do.

I started doing a bit ore research this morning and see many people commented that they moved their modems to the outside of the houses and had to do a lot extra to improve the signal strength at their homes. I am not willing to do that. If your signal is to weak to over proper coverage inside my home I will not recommend RAIN. Its seems like the frequency RAIN uses can not penetrate into houses and the VODACOM signal that is suppose to back them up is not there either to help. RAIN makes very big claims but should not at all be considered as a major player in the market.

First buy just their basic sim card and test their network before you join RAIN. I left TELKOM for these guys and realized now that was a error on my side. I will go back to TELKOM or MTN in the new year.
