Disappointing Service and Poor Network Coverage from Rain

I am deeply disappointed with the service provided by Rain. When I lived in Gezina, Pretoria, I app**** for their 5G SIM, and my wife opted for the 4G SIM (which works until 6 PM). Before we moved to Mamelodi, Bufferzone (also in Pretoria), I specifically inquired if 5G would work at our new address. Rain confirmed that there was 5G coverage.

Unfortunately, after the move, the network quality has been terrible. The 5G connection works fine in the morning but drastically slows down during the day and evening, barely reaching 2 Mbps. I can't stream or do anything network-related. The 4G network is even worse — it completely stops working as soon as I get home. On weekends, when I'm home the most, the 4G is useless, and the 5G is unstable, especially if one of my kids is watching YouTube Kids.

When we lived in Gezina, I used to get speeds over 100 Mbps, but now the 5G struggles to hit even 20 Mbps. Every time I call Rain for assistance, I'm told the same thing: "Try moving the router." No other solutions are offered. Strangely, when I take the router to work, it performs perfectly.

As a result, I have to spend extra money on Telkom bundles while both my wife and I continue paying for Rain subscriptions. It feels like Rain does not prioritize customers in areas like Mamelodi, and this level of service is beyond frustrating.

Good morning,

I want to thank the Rain team for your prompt response and assistance—keep up the great work! However, there's still a slight issue. When the technician left, the speed was good but unstable, fluctuating quite a bit. We assumed it was still adjusting since the speeds were gradually increasing. The technician also recommended that I log another call, as the router might need re-adjustment.

Additionally, I can provide screenshots of the speeds and the conversation with the technician during troubleshooting, right up to the conclusion where he suggested the re-adjustment.

Regards

JT

Good day

I would like to thank you once again for the swift response yesterday. However, the gentleman who called me during the day mentioned that he would call me later when I was home, as I wasn’t near the router at the time. Unfortunately, he didn’t call at the arranged time.

Could you please inform him, or someone else who can assist, to call me now or later around 17:30, as I will be home at that time?

To add some additional context, the last technician who visited last week replaced my indoor 5G router with an outdoor 5G unit. He mentioned that I would need to book another appointment so he could come back and readjust the 5G signal.

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
