Debt collectors worthy of communication over clients
Disappointed
I recently received a call from a debt collector for a Rain account I closed in 2021. The debt collector notified me that I owed Rain R499 from 2021. After being a loyal client for some years, Rain decided to forward this matter to debt collector without even notifying me. When I called about the matter, I was informed that Rain had been sending me a statement on their website for years. No efforts were made to send the statement or any kind of communication to my personal email address or even call me. I had not changed my number and email address since 2021. They had no confirmation whether or not I was receiving their correspondences. No other information could be provided besides “ma’am you owe R499” when I called to enquire about the matter.
I am disappointed in the approach used by the company to resolve this. No efforts were made to confirm that I have received their message. I was a client for years and have never given them a reason to believe I cannot pay R499. Now, to use your resources to approach a debt collector without even contacting me directly for the amount is ridiculous and in contravention of the Section 129 Notice.
I paid the amount on the same day I was notified by the debt collector that I needed to pay. I however regret my decision and should have not done so. For this, you have lost a loyal client.

Please advise where the notice was sent and who acknowledged receipt?
Sending messages on your platforms to a person who has cut ties with you cannot be considered an effective means of communication.
There is a complaints page on Facebook dedicated to Rain. Going through the page made me realise that my case is not unique and that customers are not treated with respect by the company.
Customer service is what separates good service providers from bad one. Rain will learn this soon.
