Days Of Our Live With Rain

I am exhausted from constantly having to complain about Rain’s lack of service honestly, at this point it feels like there is no service at all. Rain assured me that I would be charged only half the amount this month due to the fact that I had no internet connection last month. Yet on the 1st, the full amount was debited from my account. To make matters worse, I was then asked to provide proof of the payment they took, despite the fact that my account on their own website clearly shows that it is in good standing. I am also tired of the ongoing experience of being overlooked simply because I live in a black township. It is unacceptable and deeply frustrating. At this stage, I am simply requesting a full refund so that I can part ways with Rain amicably and put an end to constantly having to report issues that should never exist in the first place.

Thank you for the reply, but a 50% discount is completely unacceptable at this point. As I’m writing this message, I have zero coverage yet again. I have spent the last three months dealing with constant interruptions, empty promises, and a service that barely exists. It has affected my daily life, my work, and my peace of mind.
I refuse to carry this problem into January. I am not asking I am insisting that you process my refund as we previously discussed. I cannot continue paying for a service that continuously fails me. Please refund my money so I can finally put this ongoing frustration behind me

Are you being serious right now? Are you not aware of the HelloPeter response in which you explicitly committed to resolving this matter? Quite frankly, I would have moved on without the refund, but at this point it has become a matter of principle. Just yesterday, you offered a 50% discount for January, and now you have the audacity to expect me to do your job for you. I suggest you review the full HelloPeter communication — the date and details of your commitment to the 50% discount are clearly recorded there.

Hi Msoja

We really apologize once more for the issue
We will apply a 50% discount to account for downtime of service

Regards
Rain The above message, dated 26 November 2025 at 16:52, is the response you provided to me, in which you explicitly committed to applying a 50% discount to my account as compensation for the continued downtime of your service. This commitment was made by Rain and published publicly on the HelloPeter platform. I am therefore holding Rain to this undertaking and expect the agreed-upon discount to be honoured without any further delay

Good day,
Your response is both inaccurate and unsatisfactory.
To place the matter on record: on 26 November 2025 at 16:52, Rain expressly committed to applying a 50% discount to account for downtime of service. At no point was this commitment made conditional upon my continued usage of a service that remains unreliable and, in many instances, entirely unavailable. As of today, I still do not have consistent network coverage. Crediting my next payment and requiring me to commit to another billing cycle despite the ongoing service failure does not remedy the breach and cannot reasonably be considered an appropriate resolution.
I must be clear: I am not obligated to continue paying for or remaining on a service that is not being delivered. A credit that merely reduces a future invoice while the core issue persists defeats the purpose of compensating for downtime.
I therefore request the following, without further delay:
  1. A refund of 50% of the amount debited, and
  2. A fair resolution that does not compel me to commit to another month of substandard or unavailable service.
Should this matter not be resolved promptly and transparently, I will have no option but to escalate it further through the appropriate channels , as the current handling falls short of reasonable consumer practice.
I look forward to your urgent response.

The communication you are requesting took place on 26 November at 16:52 on the HelloPeter platform, where a Rain representative committed to applying a 50% discount due to service downtime.
Despite this, my account was still debited the full amount of R589, with no regard for the agreed discount.
For the sake of resolution, please confirm the email address to which I should send the screenshot of the said communication so that the refund can be processed. I reiterate that I am requesting a refund and not a credit, as the service issues persist.
Kindly advise on the timeline for the refund once the proof has been submitted

Good day,
This serves as a final follow-up, as I have received no response to my previous emails requesting the email address to which I should submit the proof of communication you asked for.
As previously stated, the relevant communication occurred on 26 November at 16:52 on the HelloPeter platform, where a Rain representative committed to applying a 50% discount due to service downtime. Despite this undertaking, my account was still debited the full amount of R589.
I am ready to submit the requested screenshot immediately upon receipt of the correct email address. Kindly also confirm the timeline for processing a refund, as I have consistently requested a refund and not a credit.
Should I not receive a response within 48 hours, I will have no alternative but to escalate this matter further.

Good day,
Thank you for your response.
I must place on record that the refund was not initiated by me, but by Rain. Throughout our correspondence, Rain advised that a refund would be processed due to prolonged service downtime and repeatedly requested that I provide proof and supporting information for this purpose, which I did in good faith.
It is therefore concerning that, after requesting documentation to facilitate the refund, Rain is now stating that a refund is “not possible,” without any clear explanation.
Kindly advise whether there is an internal department, supervisor, or escalation channel within Rain to whom this matter can be referred for review. If no such escalation is available, please note that Rain’s refusal to honour the previously indicated refund will be formally recorded, and I will proceed to escalate the matter to ICASA and/or the relevant Consumer Ombudsman.
I request a clear response on the above.
Kind regards,
Masoja

Dear Rain Team,
It seems there might be some difficulty in understanding or locating your own commitment from 26 November 2025, where you stated, “We will apply a 50% discount to account for downtime of service.” I’m sure it’s not too hard to find, but it seems someone might just be overlooking it.
Moreover, I’ve not received any details on your internal complaint process or the appropriate contact for escalation. If that’s not forthcoming, I’ll have no choice but to escalate this matter to ICASA or another appropriate authority.
I trust you are aware that every conversation is being documented, and should this matter be escalated, it will be reviewed thoroughly, making it clear that the 50% discount for downtime is indeed your responsibility.
I look forward to your prompt and clear response.
Regards,
Masoja

Dear Rain Team

As per ICASA guidelines, let us all wait for the 14 working days and see what happens. Enough has been said between both parties, and we'll proceed accordingly. Thanks
