Corporate ****! Rain Service Provider is a ****
I hope this note finds the reader well. I must express my profound disappointment and frustration with the ongoing issues surrounding my account with Rain.
Since the beginning of January 2024, I have engaged in numerous discussions with Rain representatives regarding the cancellation of my account. On each occasion, I was unequivocally assured that cancellation would be processed by the end of the month, contingent upon the settlement of any outstanding balances. Consequently, I promptly settled my outstanding bill on January 3, 2024, in the amount of R750, in good faith and in accordance with the directives provided by Rain.
However, to my astonishment and dismay, subsequent attempts to contact Rain's customer care service proved futile, contact numbers are not operational. Instead, I was met with an egregious demand for payment of an alleged outstanding balance before any further assistance would be provided. Such conduct not only undermines the trust and integrity of our contractual agreement but also raises serious concerns regarding Rain's adherence to consumer protection laws, including provisions outlined in the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa.
Moreover, I was denied access to my account profile based on a purported change in email address, despite my possession of valid identification documents. This denial of access appears to be a deliberate attempt to coerce consumers into purchasing additional products, which contravenes the principles of fair business practices as stipulated in relevant legislation.
In February, I was subjected to aggressive communication from a Rain agent, who unjustly claimed an outstanding balance exceeding R1000 and threatened legal action if immediate compliance was not met. Such coercive tactics are not only ********* but also potentially ******** under South African law.
Regrettably, the situation has escalated further, as I was once again contacted today, May 16, 2024, by a Rain agent demanding payment of an inflated balance now exceeding R2000. It is pertinent to note that I have refrained from utilizing Rain's services since January, yet I continue to incur unwarranted charges and harassment, despite repeated attempts to cancel my account.
Even after returning the device to the Sunninghill office, the manager at the branch accepted the device and apologised for all the inconvenience caused. How ever I’m continuously called and harassed, and now by Rains strongmen NuDebt Collection Agency.
In light of the aforementioned circumstances, I am left with no choice but to escalate this matter to the relevant authorities, including the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman. I am committed to providing a comprehensive account of my experiences, including this email thread, as evidence of Rain's non-compliance with regulatory standards and its pattern of unjust theft at the expense of consumers. Numerous incidents have been reported on Hello Peter and various other platforms with people report the exact ****
I implore you to take immediate action to rectify this situation and provide a satisfactory resolution that upholds the principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability. Failure to do so will compel me to pursue all available legal remedies to safeguard my rights and seek restitution for the undue hardship and distress caused by Rain's actions.
I trust that you will treat this matter with the utmost urgency and seriousness it warrants. I am available for further discussion and am hopeful for a swift and amicable resolution.
