Beware of Rain.co.za: Misleading Promotion and Violation of Consumer Protection Act

I recently had a bad experience with Rain.co.za and their promotional offer. They advertised a promotion that stated 'Join for R1' without any mention that it was only for new customers. As an existing customer with no active service, I joined the service as advertised but was charged the full amount instead of the advertised R1. I tried to resolve the issue through email but received no response, and when I spoke to their representative on the phone, they said that they couldn't do anything about it. Despite my explanation of the Consumer Protection Act, the representative didn't honor the promotion and charged me the full amount. This is a clear violation of sections 29 and 40 of the Consumer Protection Act, which requires promotional offers to be clear, accurate, and not misleading, and for companies to honor their promotional offers subject to any terms and conditions that were clearly disclosed to the consumer at the time of the offer. I strongly advise everyone to be cautious when dealing with Rain.co.za and to always double-check the terms and conditions of any promotions before signing up, especially if they do not explicitly state that the promotion is only for new customers.
