Absolutely appalling customer service — avoid Rain at all costs.

After having the same cell number for over 12 years, Rain disconnected my SIM without any warning, resulting in me losing my number. This has caused an enormous amount of unnecessary stress, as I now have to update my number with clients, my bank, insurance, and countless other services.

I contacted Rain immediately from another number and explained exactly what had happened. I was reassured that because I had contacted them so quickly, the issue could be resolved. I was told, “At least you contacted us early, so we can fix it.” Great — I thought the problem was being taken care of.

Three days passed with no email, no call and no update whatsoever.

I called again, only to discover that my issue had never even been escalated. I was then told that this was a serious matter and that a supervisor would personally contact me to resolve it.

Another three days passed.

Again, nothing. No call. No email. No follow-up.

At this point, I have lost a cell number I've had for over 12 years, I've been left to deal with the consequences myself, and I'm still waiting for the R650 charge to be reversed, despite being assured that this would be done.

The lack of communication, accountability and basic customer service throughout this entire situation has been incredibly disappointing. What makes it worse is that every time I contact Rain, I receive another promise that someone will resolve the issue — and then I'm completely ignored.

Save yourself the stress, frustration and potentially your phone number. If you value your number and expect even a basic level of customer service, I strongly recommend staying far away from Rain.

I would not recommend Rain to anyone.
