Shaped into the ground
Openweb's uncapped special 10mbps offering currently has me paying not even R100 extra over the previous 4mbps offering I had, so I signed up. Faster line for less than R100 more? Sweet!

It was fabulous over the weekend. My downloads were now lightning quick and this made me happy.

Then Monday came, and today... I can't stream Youtube videos, I can't run my business because can't access my US based web servers and I can't even access the Amazon control panel where I can manage them from. My uncle who works on POS systems around the country, can't do his job either for the same reason.

It turns out, Openweb shapes their connections so aggressively that it is actually prohibitive to the user. I'm now paying more for my internet, but in actual fact, I'm getting less because while it may be the case that I'm now on a 10mbps connection, I can't even use 10% of that bandwidth because the line is shaped so aggressively.

If Openweb isn't able or prepared to do something about this at no extra cost to me, I will be moving my service back to my previous ISP and demanding a refund of my R359 that was paid pro rata.
