Read Before you sign with OpenWeb

<p> </p> <p>I signed up on 10 June 2016 with OpenWeb. Took the "Home Uncapped" package which within a day I realized it would not be suitable (extensive shaping during the day). I upgraded to "Business Uncapped) which was better for daytime shaping. With the exception of a couple of days between then and now I have had to email a few times per day to have the port reset. I have sent approx 65 emails to them in this period for slow speeds. I gave notice at the end of July and am currently in my notice month. I was fortunate to have an MWEB account with limited cap but enough to use as a test to see whether it was a Telkom issue or an OpenWeb issue. Without fail the problem was with OpenWeb.</p> <p>I was fortunate that the credit card I was using to pay expired at the end of July and paid my August sub (R699) vie EFT so I won't have the aggravation that some of the other users had with cancelling debit orders and credit cards being debited.</p> <p>On a positive, of the 65 emails I always received a prompt reply. I never used hotline so I can’t confirm other comment on HelloPeter about not being able to contact OpenWeb via phone. All the support staff very efficient although at times I thought even the responses automated and never answered any direct questions like “what was the problem”</p> <p>I first heard about OpenWeb via "My Broadband article about the best performers on "HelloPeter" I stupidly took this at face value and only now that I am writing this I checked and saw the negative reviews contrasted my some rather "suspect" 5 star reviews by people who have only made 1 report to HelloPeter ever, and that was to sing OpenWeb's praises. Even a "Remy Martin" had great things to say (must be a premium cognac *****). This is a practice that some business use to offset bad reviews made on HelloPeter</p> <p>Although I still have till the end of the month with Openweb I decided to upgrade my MWEB account as from today and will sacrifice the balance of payment made to OpenWeb and put it down to school fees.</p>
