Openserve/Telkom incompetence

Telkom called and persuaded us to switch to Openserve. What a mistake! We have been without wifi for over a week. It is not just that we are struggling to run our business - a busy restaurant dependent on wifi for everything from placing orders to billing customers etc - without any connectivity, but we have had to spend many many hours on the telephone with their call centre trying to get it resolved. They keep insisting the error is our side and made us go buy a new router at R1000 (from a Telkom store). But that turned out not to be the problem. We then got an external IT consultant in to try help us resolve the issue with Openserve. Not only did the external IT consultant confirm that the problem is with Openserve, after spending hours on the phone with them, but he also confirmed that the new router is a significantly inferior router than what we had installed originally. Every call with Openserve starts with the threat that if they send a technician they will charge us R1,200 for the call out even though the problem is clearly to do with their transitioning us to Openserve and nothing to do with anything we have done. In the interests of trying to get connected again we agreed to get the technician and pay the R1,200, but needless to say no technician has actually materialised notwithstanding commitments given as to when they would come. We even tried requesting to be transitioned back to Telkom, but not even that seems to be achievable. The incompetence of Openserve/Telkom is already well documented on HelloPeter, but I felt it necessary to add our experience as this level of incompetence and the resultant damage being done to other peoples' businesses must be strongly called out and flagged. Don't get caught out by Telkom/Openserve call centre agents promising you an upgrade at no extra costs......We estimate this debacle has already cost us over R5000 and we are still not connected!
