Openserve - Agressive, rude and disrespectful technician
I had a really difficult experience with an Openserve technician who came to my house this morning. He was rude, aggressive and disrespectful. Our internet has been going on and off for some time now, he set up the modem initially, so we called him to ask him to come and take a look at the line. He said he'd be here yesterday at a certain time, then at a later time, but didn't arrive and didn't message to say he wouldn't be coming, so I waited all day, doing my best not to go out or rest, in case he came. I was and am sick at the moment and stressed out trying to run an online business without internet. This morning I messaged to ask when he would be coming, he didn't reply but simply arrived. He walked in with a strong and unfriendly energy. At first I wasn't sure if he was part of Openserve and I felt unsafe as a female on my own at home, I asked him which company he was with and he didn't immediately say which company he was from. I let him in and said to him that it would have been helpful if he had let me know that he wasn't able to come yesterday, he instantly became rude and said he was here as a favour to the account holder. I asked him to tone down his energy, as I was in a vulnerable and unwell state, my body was tremoring and I started to feel unsafe and affected by his aggression. He did not tone it down, but asked me to calm down, as at this point my body was shaking a lot. I could not stop this, it was my body's response to the situation. I tried to show him an email that we'd be sent highlighting the fault and steps that needed to be taken by a technician, he didn't want to look at the email, I asked him if he could reset the modem, he didn't, he looked at the devices and said that they were fine, even though the internet was not and still isn't working.
I get that he may have been from the wrong department and that Openserve needs to send out the correct technicians who work with the line itself, however this is no reason to treat a female client with aggression, disrespect and harsh energy and to intrude in one's personal space and leave the client feeling unsafe and unheard. As a sidenote, while I asked him to tone down his energy, at the point I started shaking, he called in two of the men he was driving with and asked me to let them in, which left me feeling more unsafe. I am still reeling and shocked from the experience and from the way he spoke to me and interacted with me. No client or woman deserves to be treated in such a manner.
We are awaiting a technician who will fix the line and hopefully they will be friendlier.
