MTN's "uncapped" internet is unusable, misleading, and poorly supported

MTN Internet Starter "Uncapped" Month-to-Month @R295 – False Advertising and Terrible Service! I recently subscribed to the MTN Internet Starter Month-to-Month package for R295/month. MTN boldly markets this product as “Uncapped Internet”, but that’s simply misleading at best and deceptive at worst. Yes, they mention a “Usage Data Policy” that throttles the speed after 100GB , which, on principle, defeats the idea of uncapped. But I was willing to accept reduced speeds of 512kbps after 100GB. What I didn’t expect, and what MTN conveniently doesn’t disclose clearly, is that your speed can drop to a completely unusable level. Mine fell to 0.04 Mbps download and 0.44 Mbps upload, totally useless. I couldn’t check emails, download attachments, or even load a basic website. In total, I used this service for 25 days and only had about 15 days of usable internet. The rest was a frustrating, teeth grinding experience. To make matters worse, getting help is a nightmare. You wait endlessly on the phone, only to be shuffled from department to department. At one point, I was even transferred to the courier company . . .for what reason, I still don’t know, and then back to MTN, still with no answers. I was simply trying to understand why the service had collapsed. By contrast, local ISPs are far better. They notify you of issues, give you updates, and when you call, someone actually helps. Even when the issue isn’t resolved immediately, at least you’re told what's going on. MTN’s call centre? Some agents don’t even try to help, they just talk nonsense and waste your time. What’s worse is that I had recommended this package to my brother and he barely uses it (maybe 20MB a month). He’s also complaining about terrible network availability and speed. That says a lot. In conclusion and based on my experience, This product is a *******, poorly supported, and advertised in a way that borders on dishonest. They have also made it a hassle to cancel, but I’m cancelling mine and I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of MTN’s so-called “Uncapped” Internet Starter package. You’re better off going with a smaller, more responsive provider who actually cares about service quality. Call it something else, do not call it “UNCAPPED” I have had to Wi-Tether on my Phone just to write this review and send.
