MTN
I am currently on a pre-paid contract with MTN South Africa. About 2 months ago when i went in at a branch in Century City in Cape Town to pay my outstanding instalments on the handset I took upon my upgrade i received the shock of my life. The person who was assisting me told me that I was owing more money than the stipulated monthly instalments I thought I owed. There was an extra R389 I did not know were it came from. Then as the person was trying to show me where it came from they turned over the computer screen to show me what had happened, thats when I saw at the bottom of the screen that my account had been registered or updated with a standard bank account belonging to someone. So immediatley objected the extra costs that were as a result of debit orders placed against someone`s account that were bouncing. The person assisting told me they were going to escalate the matter with the relevant personnel in the credit department of MTN and gave me some customer assistance dialing numbers for me to call and further resolve the issue. I do not have a standard bank account I only use ABSA and Capitec. I gave the staff my ABSA statement for them to correctly update my MTN account. My problem is that the issue was never resolved in fact i received a reminder last week to pay the R389 even if it arose from an error and incompentency displayed by one of the MTN personnel who uploaded someone`s bank details in my mtn account. I tried to call the customer helpline numbers and no response came.
