Horrible experience

I have stayed in lots of hotels but never had such terrible experience like we had last night, I have booked the Neverland suite for my wife and I, after 30min in the room we could notice that the aircon does not work, the room felt like a sauna, informed the front desk about the issue and they said maintenance will re gas the ac, another 45min went by and the room was by now so hot we decided that we both stood outside in the passage as it was cooler there, front desk informed us to give it another 30min to see if its working, after another 39min I have again informed front desk that its still not working and they said they will move us to the Jungle Suite, In this suit we could feel the ac working but to our surprise after 1hr the ac just switched off and we could not get it working again, reporting the issue to front desk and after 30min they gave us a fan to use in the room. We just left it there as we could see this hotel has serious aircon issues, upon checkout , we decided to checkout at 07:00 we got informed that we cannot checkout as housekeeping first need to inspect our room before we can get our R2500 cash deposit back that we paid on checkin, eventually after 40min of waiting housekeeping finally arrived to inspect our room and we could leave this horrible place.

NO HELP FROM STAFF AS I PLEADED

Good day, I hope this email finds you well. I write this message with a very heavy heart. As you are aware, last night was one of the worst nights of my life. What was meant to be a romantic and joyful evening turned into something I can only describe as a horror scene. I never imagined I would be the woman writing an email like this. The gentleman I arrived with seemed perfectly fine when we checked in. We received our room key, things were light-hearted, playful, and filled with laughter — exactly as I had hoped the evening would be. He then decided to order drinks. I do not drink alcohol, so he ordered me a sugar-free Red Bull while he had vodka and a normal Red Bull. I still do not understand what caused him to become so worked up. He began sharing his past, and suddenly his emotions shifted into anger. At first, it was only a slap against the wall or the bed, but as he continued drinking, he became more agitated, unpredictable, and violent. When things began escalating toward physical intimacy and I refused, his anger intensified. That is when he started hitting the TV and the glass items in the room. He grabbed me and threw me against the window — and I am grateful it did not shatter. He hit the side table with the phone, and from what I could see later, he must have damaged the towel railing when he fell in the bathroom. The entire experience felt like something out of a movie. It did not shock me to receive a phone call from staff regarding the damages. I was sober; I knew exactly what had happened. What I did not know was whether the call was made to see if I was okay, or simply just alive to pay for the damages. I screamed for help. I begged the gentleman who eventually showed up at the door to call the police. I looked him in the eyes and pleaded. He did nothing. I ran out and sought help from the ladies next door, who seemed to be having a bachelorette party. I asked if I could hide. They slammed the door in my face. It is painful to see how quickly people express sympathy on social media — “poor lady,” “that man deserves to go to jail” — yet when faced with a real person, a real moment, real fear, they did nothing. I am an educated woman. I understand trauma. I understand that the man with me needs help. But the help I needed last night was outside that door — and it was denied. Your hotel and your staff failed me in a moment where humanity should have come first. I know that the purpose of this email is, in part, to request that I not be held financially responsible for the damages caused during the incident. Perhaps this request will be granted, perhaps not. But I am grateful to be alive. When I saw the anger and pain in his eyes, I prayed — not for myself — but for my daughter, that she would be okay if I did not make it out. Could I please request a full list of the reported damages, as well as the related paperwork or invoices, so that I am aware of the charges? I wish you well, and sincerely hope our paths do not cross again. Kind regards, Not a victim, a survivor
