Mediclinic unwilling to listen to my requests
Since December 2025 I have been explaining to Mediclini that I will follow up with GEMS, which I have been doing and posting on this platform about GEMS not paying for an invoice. I have complained countless times about GEMS and I finally received a response for the invoices to be sent to them for review. Apart from that Mediclinic has been unwilling to listen to me and be patient. Payment of R500 has been made for two months, unfortunately I couldn't make a payment this past month due to being in hospital myself. Instead of following up and finding out what the problem is, can we make a payment plan or at least something I received *** that I have been listed at the credit bureau. Never in my life have I had such nonsense and unwillingness from anyone after explaining the situation countless times. Mediclinic - I will be sending screenshots of conversations between myself and GEMS, the proof that the invoice has been sent to them and what you propose a constructive way forward with of course the removal of my name off the credit bureau listing. Not very impressed with Mediclinic! You can do better!

Empty promises after shocking treatment.
We contacted Medi-clinic via their website and received an answer promptly. We were promised a formal investigation and an answer. Since then, complaint 188128 has yielded no formal answers apart from a voicenote from the hospital we complained about to say the matter is resolved.

Shocking treatment at Mediclinic Sandton Emergency
My adult daughter was rushed to Sandton Mediclinic ER at 1.00am in the morning as she had accidently managed to slice her thigh from her knee to more than half way up her leg. She was bleeding profusely. She was given a yellow in triage. Her husband had bandaged her in an attempt to curb the bleeding. At no stage was the wound looked at and evaluated. After a couple of hours of waiting, her husband had to REQUEST that she at least be given something for the pain. He had to ask twice before anyone assisted. A doctor eventually saw her and appeared surprised at how much bleeding had occurred. At one stage she was shaking uncontrollably, and struggling to breath. Her oxygen saturation was dropping. She was eventually stitched up and left the hospital at 5h35 in the morning. I truly feel that 4 and a half hours to be seen to in this situation is absolutely unacceptable, and would recommend anyone needing emergency assistance go elsewhere. Even if Sandton is the closest hospital, the drive to any hospital in Johannesburg, no matter where they go, even if the drive is a couple of HOURS away, it would be more beneficial to them

Medi-Clinic Pietermaritzburg Worst Service
Medi clinic Pietermaritzburg, ER department was absolutely a nightmare! I arrived with a child aged 9, she was not offered water or food 3:30pm until 9pm when we got transferred to the Orthopaedic ward where we arrived and we were advised that the kitchen is closed. The ER personnel was on a holiday, looked at you in the eye and ignored your request as a patient then turned around and hugged each other while laughing and talking about non work related stuff. The service here is absolutely disappointing to think that we pay for a private service it’s insane. The of it all is that my daughter could not be placed in a paediatric ward, because it’s apparently full

Mediclinic – Serious Concerns Regarding Confidential Medical Records
I am deeply dissatisfied with how Mediclinic handled my concerns regarding the removal, handling and reproduction of confidential medical records. On 19 February 2026, I formally raised concerns regarding patient confidentiality, compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), chain of custody, and the risks associated with reproducing highly sensitive medical information outside the controlled environment of a healthcare facility. Mediclinic confirmed that the matter had been escalated to Corporate Office, and I subsequently engaged directly with its Compliance and Data Protection Officer and provided the information requested to assist with the investigation. On 4 March 2026, Mediclinic advised me that, in certain circumstances, hospital and related records may be copied by a service provider under a formal service agreement. However, this response did not adequately address the specific circumstances I had reported, including whether the correct procedures were followed, who authorised the conduct, whether the evidence provided was properly investigated, and whether any corrective or preventative action was taken. Despite the matter being escalated and referred to the appropriate compliance function, I have not received a clear or substantive investigation outcome. More concerningly, to my knowledge, the individuals connected to the circumstances I reported were not meaningfully approached, investigated or held accountable, and no concrete remedial measures have been disclosed to me. The existence of a service agreement does not, by itself, establish that the specific handling of confidential medical records comp**** with Mediclinic's internal policies, required safeguards or applicable data-protection obligations. I therefore believe Mediclinic should provide clarity regarding: 1. What investigation was actually conducted into the specific circumstances I reported? 2. Who was interviewed or questioned as part of that investigation? 3. Was the supporting documentation and other evidence I provided properly assessed? 4. Were the individuals connected to the incident identified and investigated? 5. Were any corrective, preventative or disciplinary measures considered or implemented? 6. What factual basis supported Mediclinic's ultimate position? 7. What measures were put in place to prevent similar concerns from arising again? I am not requesting confidential employee or disciplinary information. I am requesting confirmation that a serious concern involving highly sensitive personal information was properly investigated and appropriately addressed. I raised this matter privately and in good faith, with the intention of ensuring that confidential patient information was protected and that appropriate procedures were followed. I deliberately refrained from publicly distributing the supporting material in my possession. Patients entrust healthcare providers with some of their most private and sensitive information. That trust requires more than policies and contractual agreements on paper — it requires those safeguards to be properly implemented, monitored and enforced. Based on my experience, I cannot regard Mediclinic's handling and resolution of this complaint as satisfactory. I reserve all rights to pursue the matter through the appropriate regulatory and legal channels should a satisfactory explanation and resolution not be provided.

TERRIBLE SUPPORT
Hi all My dad was admitted to Mediclinic Sandton. He was a PMB patient. The accounts department firstly made an account on his statement was rectified. They shortfalls/non-payment authorization was needed, they did follow up with the Medical aid, and just gave up. There was a shortfall on the account and my father passed away two months later. The account became my moms problem, they harassed her consistantly, was rude and unhelpful. She is a SASSA pensioner and has now paid the shortfall which she lent to pay. MEDICLINIC IS A DISGRACE.
