Home-Connect is the worst ISP in South Africa
I would not recommend using Home-Connect as your ISP:
1. We submitted a request to upgrade our line speed on 8 January 2024. It's been almost a month, and the upgrade has not come through. I've confirmed that our router and cables can handle the upgraded line speed and I've called a few times to query the delay. The call centre says they can see our order is pending, but that's as much as they are able to help. We were billed for the upgrade regardless. This has still not been resolved.
2. Home-Connect is only available for contact between 08h00 - 17h00 from Monday to Friday. We've had an instance where our internet stopped working on a Friday evening and there was no way to get help from Home-Connect until Monday morning. Similarly, we've had our internet go out in the early evening on a weekday without any way of getting it back online until the next day.
3. Our internet drops more regularly than our neighbours'. Our entire complex has the same fibre provider. We are the only ones with Home-Connet as our ISP and our connection drops more frequently than anyone else in our complex by a considerable margin.
4. Home-Connect's cancellation policy is onerous compared to competitors. Home-Connect requires a full calendar months' notice before they ALLOW you to cease using their service. So a cancellation 2 February means you're only free from Home-Connect on 1 APRIL!! I really do not understand why we would be required to remain with Home-connect for effectively the whole of February and the whole of March. Given that Home-Connect already has our money for February, I understand them not releasing our line for February. Why should we be expected to pay for a whole extra month for shoddy service?
Honestly, we regret choosing Home-Connect as our ISP. Given our struggles outlined above, I would recommend any other ISP over them.
