Home connect charging for an absent service and poor communication

I'm an online teacher and without a stable internet connection I am unable to generate an income. In April my fibre started to give problems, cutting out and being very unstable. I've had to cancel multiple classes. After going back and forth with home connect and them being unable to provide any solutions I had to cancel my month to month contract on the 21st of April. According to home connect I had to pay a R460 penalty for cancelling the contract before one year was over. I did not cancel because I no longer needed the service, I cancelled because it did not work. As the new month began I realised that home connect still deducted the full amount, only upon enquiry they informed me that a full months noticed had to be served before cancellation. Under normal circumstances I can understand this, but because the service they provided was none existent and resulted in a loss of my income. It is unreasonable to still charge me. I've had to go with a mobile service provider instead of the fibre. Essentially I am now paying double the amount in the Month of May because I have to pay two network providers. I am a teacher and it is difficult to afford it. Is there anything I can do?
