Complaint Regarding Unacceptable Service
I would like to formally express my dissatisfaction regarding the service I received during my son's appointment on 22 August 2026. I do not normally visit Health-Worx due to previous poor experiences; however, this particular visit was exceptionally disappointing. I have never felt compelled to lodge a formal complaint before, but the conduct displayed during this consultation has left me with no choice. As a result of this experience, I will not be returning to your facility and will be seeking an alternative doctor for my family. My appointment was with Dr Donald Mello. During the consultation, he asked whether my son was born in the Free State. When I rep**** that he was born in Pretoria, Dr Mello responded by asking, "Where in Pretoria?" I was unsure how this information was relevant to diagnosing or treating my five-year-old son. He then asked what medication I had been giving my son. I explained that I had been administering Empaped and ibuprofen because his fever had exceeded 39°C. His response was, "Empaped 250 mg is for children under four." I informed him that the medication is indicated for children between the ages of two and eight. He then stated that my son's weight also needed to be taken into account. My son is small for his age, and I was left uncertain about what he was implying. Dr Mello then asked whether I give my child aspirin, to which I responded, "Definitely not." He proceeded to tell me that he was "trying to educate" me. While I appreciate medical advice when it is provided professionally and respectfully, I found this remark condescending and unnecessary. I am an educated individual and I also work within the healthcare industry. What I found most concerning was that Dr Mello went on to tell my son that we, as his parents, had done him wrong by allowing our ENT specialist to remove his adenoids. I found this comment highly inappropriate and insulting. Medical decisions regarding my child are made in consultation with qualified specialists, and it is unacceptable for a healthcare professional to make such remarks directly to a young child. Throughout the consultation, I felt spoken down to rather than treated as a parent seeking medical assistance for my child. Professionalism, respect, and effective communication are essential in healthcare, and unfortunately, I did not experience any of these during this appointment. No parent should leave a consultation feeling belittled or criticised for decisions made in the best interests of their child. As stated above, this experience has resulted in my decision not to return to your facility in the future.

Approachable, Understanding, and Easy to Talk To
Dear Dr. Modise Maphutha, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional care you provided during my recent visit. Finding a doctor with whom I feel genuinely comfortable discussing my health isn't always easy, but your patient, kind, and professional approach put me completely at ease. I truly appreciated how well you listened and took the time to make sure I felt heard and understood. Because of the high standard of service and compassion you showed, I have complete confidence in your care and will gladly choose you as my primary doctor moving forward. I was very comfortable discussing Thank you again for your dedication and support. Warm regards, Rigby De Winnaar

Health Works Accounts
I would like to raise a concern regarding the very poor communication and lack of service from Healthworks. I received an email from Healthworks about a short payment on my medical aid account for services rendered. I responded via email and clearly advised that I would settle the outstanding amount at the end of June. However, after that, I received an SMS and made a follow-up call, only to be told that the consultant I was previously communicating with no longer works at Healthworks. This was never communicated to me. I was also informed that the email address I had been using is now closed. What is completely unacceptable is that: No notification was sent to inform clients that this agent had left the company No alternate contact details were provided No auto-response email was set up to redirect queries to a new consultant No one is monitoring or following up on emails sent to that address This means that Healthworks has effectively lost communication with clients who are still trying to engage using those contact details. As a client, this creates frustration, delays, and a lack of trust in your service. Proper handover processes and communication are basic expectations in any professional organization. I request that Healthworks urgently improve their communication processes and ensure that clients are not left without support when staff members leave.

Admin Negligence and ********* processing
Health Matters I had 2 GP consults. Admin processed medical aid claim and asked me to pay cash at the time of consult in April. Medical aid paid practice and when I picked up duplicates I requested refund. I'm being told they working on it, but to date have not received.

Harassment ny Healthworx accounts department
On 18 November 2024 I visited Healthworx in Lynnwood, and they submitted a claim to my Medical Aid. My Medical Aid paid the claim, and that was the end. Subsequently from around January 2026, I have been receiving emails containing the statement for my November 2024 visit from them, and everytime I have rep**** with the Medical Aid Statement showing that the amount was paid. I even put Healthworx in contact with my Medical Aid, who has told them from where the proof of payment can be downloaded. Despite this, I still receive an email and statement almost monthly and every time I send the Medical Aid Statement. This is getting ridiculous now and they refuse to look into the payment.

Health-Worx Montana Compliment
This is about your Montana branch. What a pleasure in dealing with them. Especially a lady called Elandri that really went out of her way to assist me. It was a Saturday but that didn't deter her from finalising my query. You can be proud to have staff like that. Keep up the good work.
