You probably didn't opt-in to this hell
May God rest the soul of anyone who was cursed into doing business with an intermediary that uses Evotel as their upstream provider.
For context, the chain usually goes like this: * You pay a monthly subscription to a company that provides you fibre. * That company ***gybacks off of Evotel's fibre lines. * You are ****ed when you have a problem with equipment situated within your property.
When your ONT (fibre router) dies, you end up being stuck screaming at your ISP, which in turn screams at evotel, because evotel supplies config details for the fibre lines, and in turn, the physical ONT hardware as well.
Imagine asking for a new ONT on Saturday, and having this ****ing match back and forth until the next Wednesday, and still hearing something like "you are on the top of their list to be helped, but they have to splice fibre at like 2 billion places before they can get to you first."
Evotel is either disgustingly understaffed, or disgustingly mismanaged, or maybe even a mix of the two.
In Evotel's infinite wisdom, they decided the best way for fibre to be installed across multiple different towns in the same province, is by hanging the wire on rickety ass wooden poles, which had the obvious effect of having to dedicate their entire workforce to fight nature, instead of actually spending time fixing any issues on the sites of their clientele.
The cherry on this entire cake, is the fact that your ISP ends up acting like a brick wall because evotel has their own priorities, and those priorities concern splicing their nature-hardened and battle tested fibre cable before it'll ever concern you on an individual basis.
I feel really sorry for your employees. The amount of flack they receive is probably a really effective shield for the management department.
Never before have I seen a company so successful at integrating luck as a core factor for receiving customer service if you, as a person, were stupid enough to live in the wrong city or town.
Good job guys.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re really sorry for the experience you’ve had — we understand how frustrating it is to be without a working connection, especially when it feels like you’re being passed between providers without clear progress.
We’ve located your details and are escalating this internally as a priority. Our team is reviewing the ONT replacement and the delays you’ve experienced to ensure this is resolved as quickly as possible. We also recognise that situations involving both an ISP and infrastructure provider should be handled more seamlessly, and your feedback highlights exactly where that needs to improve.
Thank you again for raising this — we’ll be in touch with an update as soon as we have one.
