Evotel - Vodacom Migration

Hi..

So for the last 3 months now we have had terrible and degrading service.. It started with a drop now and then which laster around 3-5 min, then the drops got worse 3-5 drops and hour for 5min.. Contact support and they say that they are working on resolving the issue. Nothing was done.

Then we get an email saying, your moving to Vodacom and you will pay more for the service as of next year, Which is ridiculous.. Since that email, support have not responded or even attempted to fix any issue.. We now sit with constant drops, 3-5 nearly every 10 min with packetloss which makes the internet unusable.. and just to add the cherry on top. When I signed up I was told that this complex runs on Link Africa fibre backbone, which was a lie as I can confirm this uses sonic wireless fibre..

Hi -Asylum-,

I assume you're at the Sandown?

Yes the backhaul is currently still on Microwave at the Sandown as an interim while we wait for DFA to install into the estate. The feedback we have from them is it is being installed in September/early October, but it is largely out of our control.

We use LinkAfrica for backhaul at another site, but not at the Sandown. Can you confirm who gave this information?

Also, please will you send an email to *** and use RE: Asylum as reference so I can pick it up to assist.

Thank you

Reviewer Update
Hi, Yes I am at the sandown. Perhaps get Sonic Wireless to upgrade the Microwave link as the concurrent connections to it is causing issues, Make it their problem as your getting a degraded service from them. 15% Packetloss on a fibre wirless link is unusable and constant drops due to the amount of people trying to connect.. but thus we are still paying for this. And DFA are installing fibre, apparently through Echotel.. Are you guys installing DFA links via Vodacom? Is this site going to be openaccess?

Hi -Asylum-,

We recently did upgrade the link (we're way above required capacity) which did help, but a direct fibre link will be best.

Yes the DFA link is being installed via Vodacom. Initially Vodacom will take over support of all current Evotel customers (if they choose to sign up with Vodacom). We've been told Vodacom has committed to be open access ready Feb/Mar 2018.

From what I understand Balwin Fibre is also planning to put a link in there which I think is via Echotel? Perhaps a separate link?

Can you perhaps send a mail to *** and use -Asylum- as reference. I'm sure we can help if we can pinpoint your problem.

Thanks
