Evotel Sold Us Out!!

I recently purchased a Fibre internet package from evotel, everything was great they installed it was very affordable and apart from the hiccups every now and then, I cant really complain.

The problem is that evotel sold our fibre lines to vodacom without telling us, we payed an upfront fee of R1400 for the line to be set up and to receive a modem from evotel. I've now learnt that the modems we have purchased wont be compatible with vodacoms network so we're probably going to have to buy a new modem and the price point we are paying is going to double.

I pay 400 for an uncapped line I'm now going to have to pay R800 for the same line,. it makes no sense for such a big increase. Also evotel has still not communicated to any of us with regards to what is happening and why our lines where sold. All the calls i make i get told that someone will call me back but nobody ever does. They never reply to questions on there facebook page. So it seems they're simply gonna take our money and run at this point.

Hi Kemza,

It's nice to hear you were happy before the sale and sorry about the disappointment.

It was a truly difficult decision to make, but ultimately the only option on the networks where we acted as the ISP. Going forward we will no longer act as an ISP and will only build open access networks.

Regarding the monthly pricing, it is remaining unchanged for existing customers until end of Jan 2018 and for 24month contracts it will remain unchanged for the balance of the contract period.

Regarding the routers, all customers will receive new higher spec routers free of charge. This will be done during a migration period where they will make appointments to come swop out your existing routers. In the network we have GEN1, GEN2 and GEN3 routers, so they would like to standardize on a single type.

They have the support capacity to succeed where we have sometimes failed as an ISP and they are much stricter rules on redundancies etc, so we believe our customers will be in good hands.

We'd like to thank you very much for your support and hope you'll afford them the same opportunity.

Thank you!
